Finally watched the film, its a beautiful film, simple & sweet film, and that's the pro & con of the film bcoz the starcast of this film is too big to say such a simple story with no high points, that doesn't mean I am saying that lead actors have not done justice to their roles heck their performances are the biggest driving force of the film, its just that for eg I watched it with my kiddie brother who is a BIG Varun fan, and he was so disheartened to see him doing all those menial jobs, the degrading acts & bearing the continuous insults, for him he has this hero kind of image, so it was difficult for him to see VD in this kind of role, thus I totally get why his kiddo fanbase wont enjoy an October or Sui Dhaaga, but the good thing I saw alot of aunties coming to watch it & enjoy this movie, so sab badhiya hai😆 since the idea was to build a new fanbase
Coming back to the review first of all the supporting cast esp the teddy bear like Amma killed it <3 😆 Mauji-Bau ji bickering to final confrontation scene was a big highlight, Guddu that wake up Sid guy was super annoying, palte Ram was mast😆
I don't why Anushka's performance was bashed by ppl she is superb, with barely any dialogues, the impact she creates with her expressions & body language is commendable, the only scene I found her OTT was Bus stand scene (apni cheezon par apni mohar lagake bechenge etc...etc...part in trailer😆) yeah woh kaafi annoying tha 😆 otherwise I'd rate Mamta as her 2nd best performance after NH10, and have to say this is Varun's best pairing IMO, coz they only have eye locks, heck barely a hand holding scene, still the chemistry is so appealing & alluring that it elevates the beauty of Mauji & Mamta's bond which in itself is one the purest yet simplest love-story potrayed on Silver screen, the way they stand for/with each other is awe evoking, they are one.❤️
And then there is Mr Dhawan (aah it rhymed😆)
1stly I have to say he is one of the most uninhibited actor out there, but the gravitas he has shown as Mauji is amazing to say the least, the effortless manner he carried out the lengthy confrontational scenes with his father, bhabhi, boss, factory workers etc just shows either how much he has grown or IMO it shows he just needed author backed roles like this to showcase his potential, the pre-interval scene is my favourite his expressions, limping, the situation, Mamta's helplessness damn the scene was just so impactful👏
Dialogues were good, situational humour was really good but could have been more, Music was underwhelming, but loved the Tu hi aham track <3, climax was too convenient but expected it, coz none of Varun's film except (Badri, ABCD2) had good endings.
Overall a great clean family film, 4 Stars!!!!!
