Why is it that speaking against SANJU movie is considered as speaking against Ranbir.
Ranbir is one of my fav actors yet i opted for not watching crapfest because of the subject matter. Does that make me anti-ranbir?

I see people defending Sanjay Dutt after seeing movie.. so i say Hirani whitewashed his image clearly.

Never seen a more whitewashed account.
It's not a biography, it's fiction.

1) Sanjay dutt already had 3 licensed guns at home for 'Self protection. Mumbai Police also had 2 armed guards outside his home.

2) Even Indian police was not in possession of a powerful weapon as an AK-47.

3) It was 3 AK 47's + 30 Hand grenades and other weapons that were stored at Dutt's home.

4) Everybody else included in this case was charged under TADA except one Man, Sanjay Dutt including the old poor woman whose house was used after Dutt got scared and asked the weapons to be taken from his home.

Why anyone would need 3 AK 47's and hand grenades for 'Self protection' is beyond me. Everyone knows Dutt got away due to the political pressure, a major one by Congress & Shiv Sena. CBI suddenly decided not to submit the 60 Hr of Phone recording or appeal when Dutt was the only one changed from TADA to arms act.

Instead of presenting facts, Hirani is busy trying to blame everything on circumstances, from the Guns to connection with underworld. A kid distraught...Dutt was 34 in 1993, not a Kid, btw. Hirani is creating sympathy from the beginning. OH POOR DUTT HAS SUFFERED SO MUCH ALREADY. No mention of his abandoned Children who refuse to see him, either.

Sharam kar le Hirani...

Almost every single biopic glorifies the subject-matter in question. Paints that person out to be a really endearing/amazing person despite his or her flaws and makes him/her a victim of circumstances. Its jarring in Sanju because unlike say a Savitri or MSD, Sanjay Dutt is not a revered hero and has been involved in several cases including something as sensitive as a bomb blast. And Hirani is a close friend so it was but obvious that the film will justify him (irrespective of portraying his womanizing ways and drug addiction). Its no surprise that Hirani is being defensive here. I hated the glorification but it doesn't take away Hirani's talent as a filmmaker and Abhijat's competence as a writer. And of course the brilliance of the cast (Ranbir, Vicky in particular). I think we can acknowledge both cos they are mutually exclusive. Yes the film blatantly glorifies Dutt. Yes Hirani is an amazing filmmaker and yes RK and Vicky were kickass in the film 😆

It was widely believed in political circles that Sunil Dutt's family was being targeted by a section of the Congress leadership for resigning in a huff from his Lok Sabha membership after the Babri Masjid demolition and the communal riots in Mumbai. In fact, throughout Sanjay Dutt's arrest, Pawar was suspected to be behind the family's ordeals. In those troubled times, it was Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray who stood by the actor, despite their glaring ideological differences. Sunil Dutt would later acknowledge Thackeray's help with a deep sense of gratitude.
Priya says Sunil Dutt would sometimes be overwhelmed by a sense of guilt, thinking that had he not resigned as Lok Sabha member or protested publicly against the communal riots in Mumbai following the Babri Masjid demolition, Sanjay might not have been targeted by the authorities.

So padmaavat is the benchmark for u!! Good for u.

Aww le le le le. Bhole bhaale Hiru Ji.
Asking 'what have I whitewashed?' multiple times doesn't answer the question.
Acting super innocent. In all the chaos, he showed Sanju as the victim under all the circumstances, hounded by other villains.
