There is a better word for them, Aish. They are called home makers not house wives.

^^ The questioner had themselves used the word housewife in the question. Notice the sentiments not semantics.

best word is always a "grihini" ..this is the problem with English and the plus point of Indian languages😆 to me grihini sounds more respectable than home maker or housewife

Best - gruhini
Better - home maker
Worst - house wives

@nigahen : she could have always corrected the reporter, and the onus is on her as she is the role model for young girls. I wouldn't care what the reporter speak about. It's what she speaks that matters.

Y to find mistakes on everything done/said by someone who isn't yourfavourite. Whatever words used she Respected them by her statement.
P.S : Its high time The Youth should Stop Calling these movie stars their Inspiration or Role Model. Most of the Males in the industry uses girls like an object to their desire fulfilling, Where as the actresses either r home wreckers or belongs to the category where they r run by a male as per his choice always. The youth should stop concentrating on What ARB thinks about housewives n should themself acknowledge them as Home Makers

In stead of concentrating on the particular word, please concentrate on her reply.😛

By the way,I always had this question in my mind. Why should only the house wives be called "Home makers"? 😕
Working women are not home breakers 😳

@bold- exactly!

I was about to write the same.

housewives can be either home-makers or home-breakers depending on how well they perform in their task... just like CEOs who can make or break a company according to their performance / efficiency.
so why should housewives only be called homemakers when there are so many cases of housewives becoming homebreakers (their own homes or even other's home)...?
form what I understand, the responsibility of managing a household lies on a housewife; how well she manages that task makes her a homemaker or a home-breaker... isn't it?
