movie collection from multiplexes and on line streaming site like netflix is totally different . The premises of comparison itself wrong. Normally AK movies are huge hit on line albeit pirated one. The way the movie got hype may be it contributed in increase of paid subscription on netflix, If nothing else it helped in brand awareness of netflix.

Still one can take a trial version of 1 month netflix free subscription with 0 payment and discontinue before end of the month, so also access complete movie /series database of netflix 😆

Meh

BOI Hates what it doesn't understand. Something like Sacred games would never make it to film screens. Television pe toh 40 min ke episode mein se 5 min ka clear hoga shaayad

Gangs of Wasseypur did well with its scale. Something BOI would now conveniently ignore. 😆

I think BOI is scared of the digital wave. The more people move there, the worse it is is for them. And digital allows for more freedom to do what you want. There's no pressure of ratings or making 300cr. All that matters is acclaim. No one will fight over day 1 or hour 1 or lifetime numbers.

They're just grumbling now..I think they (and the trade) will throw a major hissy fit if the top superstars decide to do a series.

Skepticism over quality content not being equal to blockbuster and resistance to accept change in the mentality and demand of viewers is BOI's top characteristics

Not to say that Sacred Games is a brilliant show either...I would say its not even original content from the perspective that we have already seen similar storylines in Narcos and even Gangs of wasseypur

and Nawaz is same old same old, Saif is stern faced throughout and the editing is not tight..there are many repetitive scenes and wastage footage

for a Netflix original on a wholesome basis, I would rate it as highly average, and shockingly I feel like Lust Stories was a better start for India originals, but atleast its a start!

and Netflix is the future..it has the best content amongst all digital streaming sites/ app and eventually it will enable in resulting other competitors who will try to produce good content..Prime sucks sofar, Voot and other wannabe apps etc are bogus. So I am waiting for some more video streaming apps which will give takkar ki competition to Netflix

Sacred Games is a good show. If you think every movie with a gangster theme from a rural background is the same as GOW then don't watch it. But then why do people not generalise so many other movies where rich people fall in love with each other, roam around in posh places and have silly problems, then patch up in the end. I mean what a stupid way to generalise. Just because it is Nawazuddin, just because he becomes a gangster, just because it concerns the lower class, doesn't mean it's nothing new.

It's a great show which you need to watch carefully cuz many scenes come back later in discussions and it's more fun if you remember watching them.
