^ Its like as if Dhadak was coming to get their favorite Sairat and all these people now have to try and throw at it whatever they could think of, just to stop it from attacking Sairat...🤔
Agreed, Sairat is a great movie...But Dhadak on its own is also a beautiful movie!

If I have to really really I mean, REALLY nitpick, it would be about the climax...While in Sairat the victims were totally unsuspecting, in Dhadak Madhu seemed very uncomfortable even to hand over his child to them, like as if he knew what was coming!

Dhadak Review -
The most emotional part for me was Sridevi's photo in the opening credit. I felt the sighs and coldness in the room when her photo came up. How I miss her so much...

I first want to talk about the negative point of the movie which for me was the director! I found that alot of moments needed more intensity and more of a punch. There needed to be a better flow to it. I also found the amount of times the screen fades to black as a transition was just lazy direction/editing...also *somewhat spoiler-ish * - he mutes a part in the movie which for me took away from the impact.

Thats my only complaint.

Other than that the movie was really good but what makes the movie so good are the performances. Both Ishaan and Janhvi deliver very strong performances. Infact I cant remember the last time I was so impressed by someone's debut, this has to be the strongest debut in at least the past 10 years...perhaps since Priyanka/Lara in Andaaz or something?

Ishaan was really good and everyone knows about how great he is. He has a stronger voice than Shahid and in scenes when he has to be loud - you really feel the strength in his voice and power/command he has over his craft. He has all the right ingredients but sadly I felt that he didnt look like a hero. I understand his role is supposed to be middle class and all but he doesnt have the stature of a hero. He did everything well but I dont know what the road holds for him? Other than Janvhi and Alia I cant picture him being paired with anyone. Even Sara would look too old for him. I am really interested to see how his career will flourish because as good as he is I am a little bit worried about what he can do...I might be wrong but it seems that way! I feel like there might be a 3-4 year gap until his next movie comes out.

Janhvi blew me away. She was really good and astounding. There are some moments in the movie where she absolutely nails it, like when she snaps back at the teacher during attendance 😆 Her character was very well-sketeched...you could see and feel the transformation. She played the aggressive parts just as well the emotional. There were maybe 2-3 scenes she could have done better but its forgiveable...shes only 21 and this is her first movie. Also - she looks breathtaking on screen. I always thought she looked nice in interviews/photos...but seeing her on the big-screen is just something else. She has a spark for sure and a very strong screen presence. You cant take your eyes off her...hera aura commands the attention and you can bet that you'll be reeled in! I am officially a Janhvi Fan! I am so happy that I finally have someone that I can be a fan of and be proud to be their fan.

I might get flak for saying this for me Janhvi in this one movie alone is better than anything I've seen from Shraddha, Sonam, Kirti Jacky, and all these actresses. I was blown away by Alia in Raazi... and although Janvhi in Dhadak wobbled in some scenes...but when she hit the right cord - she hit them better than Alia for sure. Plus - Janvhi did all this with an average director...give her a good one and watch her destroy everyone. I cant imagine what level she could go to. Briahna said she should do a SLB film - I can totally see her doing that. I hope SLB is listening. She is perfect SLB material.

Ishaan-Janhvi's chemistry was electrifying. Probably the best chemistry we have seen over the past few years! I am really happy these two came in to the industry like a breath of fresh air. We needed them! Cant wait to see them soar.

From the climax spoilers I read, looks like they completely misunderstood the concept.😕

Dhadak Has Good Gains On Saturday

Dhadak made good gains of around 25% as it grossed 10.50-10.75 crore nett on its second day. The film managed to jump well at multiplexes in the metros and the collections in circuits like Nizam / Andhra where it opened very well held up pretty well..

The opening in Nizam / Andhra and CP Berar was better than films like Padman, Raid and Veere Di Wedding which were 10 crore nett openings or close. Dhadak is poor in East Punjab and so in Delhi city (some theatres are doing well while others not). Though Delhi city is so so, the Delhi / UP circuit is good due to UP being good. The first two collections of the film are as follows.

Friday - 8,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 10,75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 19,25,00,000 apprx

The weekend should comfortably cross 30 crore nett and the it will be Monday that will tell if the film can become a HIT.

my review, spoilers ahead

overall i enjoyed the film, it wasn't anything path breaking but i think it was a gud platform for jhanvi and ishaan to make thier debut with

i really liked the lighter and funny moments in the first half, special mention to the dwarf playing ishaans friend, he was so funny

ishaan is a gud actor, he is confident and has a strong voice, he played the role very convincingly, the only thing i wud say is that he looks very young, he looks like a 16 year old, and i dont know with wat other actresses cud he pair up wth, i can only think of alia and maybe sara, but he wudn't be able to pair up with deepika, katrina, pc etc

jhanvi did well, for her debut she emoted very well and you feel for her character, the only thing i wud say for is her dialogue delivery can be better and smoother, but i' sure with more time and experience that can improve

i didn't hav a problem with the ending, i actually think it was a more cruel ending than sairat, the fact that parthvi now has to live with the pain of losing her husband and son for the rest of her life, and feel the guilt of leaving them in the room with her brother, its the ultimate revenge from her dad

but yes i hav to agree that the characters in dhadak were not as poor as the characters in sairat, parshya in sairat was really poor, whereas madhu in dhadak didn't exactly look poor, his family owned a restaurant and the house they lived in looked nice, also the leads in sairat went to live in a slum, whereas in dhadak they went to a hostel, so yeh there were slight differences, but still in dhadhak the characters did hav to struggle to earn money and get through the day

also the scene where parshya tries to kill himself wen he thinks archie is going to leave him, i wud hav liked to hav seen that in dhdadak, the scene just wud hav just added a bit more intensity

so yeh overall its a nice film, like i said its not something exceptional, i wud say sairat has more of an impact, but as a stand alone film i think its a gud debut for jhanvi and ishaan

Unfortunately, I am one of those people who watched Sairat before watching this one. I say unfortunate, because there is no way you can watch Dhadak without comparing it to Sairat. Sairat is a masterpiece in that regard.
This is not to say that Dhadak is a bad movie but there is nothing path-breaking about it. The best thing I have to say for me was the cinematography of the movie. It made me want to visit Udaipur and even Kolkata. Ishaan was amazing in the movie; he was believable as a poor love-struck small-city boy. Jhaanvi looked ethereal but I did cringe at some of her scenes. Her accent kept dropping throughout the movie. Contrary, to popular opinion I actually liked her dialogue delivery. I also liked her more as a brat in the first-half; more so in the second half. I think she can emote better with her eyes. But, considering this is her first film, she is pretty decent and I do think she'll improve. The villains were caricatures which was quite disappointing.

I wished Dhadak was more raw though; it is not the hostel vs. slum part that was troublesome. I just wasn't as invested in them, as I was in Archie and Parshya.

I was surprised by the climax and I am glad they changed it. It stayed with me long after.

All in all, it is a decent movie and would be more enjoyable if you haven't seen Sairat.
