Saw the movie. Only went for Jhanvi and Ishaan and was not disappointed by their performance. I am not going to compare it to Sairat, I did not expect it. But The rest of the film, well, even without comparing just as a stand alone movie..hmm.

First, W*F was that vehicle Parvathi and her family ride in ? It has no back, no seat belt. The father and driver sit in front while the women sit precariously.

The good. What I most loved was the ambience Madhukar family restaurant. The terrace, the little padded benches over looking the lake. I would love to have a meal of Lal Maas (which I have heard Jhanvi rave about during promo) and Rajasthani dishes on a cool desert night, take a ride on the boat with the lanterns hanging in the title song and come and spend the night on the terrace outside. I don't know if there will be mosquitoes but I would pay a pretty penny to have an experience like that.

I loved Udaipur too, Usually movies and pictures depicting Rajasthan have desert not architecture. Here, the camera loving captures the magnificent architecture. i would have loved to see more of Parthavi's family palace/hotel. What was missing for me was that.

I also see Jhanvi and KJO's costume department went mega shopping at Amrapali Tribe, the shop MEB turned me too. IThe jewelry was fantastic and woe is me since they ship worldwide.

Moving on to the meat of the story, I kept feeling I was watching Vaidehi in Badri because Parthavi had the same annoying way of behaving with Madhu the way Vaidehi did in the beginning with Badri. Why does a strong girl mean bitchy ? Why should a woman not appreciate a sincere guy who loves her and test him just for fun to prove something ? It makes her a misandrist, the female equivalent of misogynist. I ranted during Badri review when he put Vaidehi in the trunk, I want to first slap Sheshank and lock him in the trunk of a car for writing two allegedly strong female characters who are just bitches at time. I found the first half just offensive and the little guy who is really an older guy trying to be funny annoying. Just bad, bad, bad.

The saving grace for me was Madhu in the first half. Oh my dear Ishaan. I fell for him. What a lovely, sincere, down to earth lovable guy. I didn't like Badri because he was annoying macho, give me a guy who can take me for boat rides and makes a mean naan. Madhu is such a sweet heart, vulnerable, adorable. I adored him more than the hero of the other movie which I will not name and I am surprised.

I liked Parthavi more in the second half. The maturing was there and can I say how good Jhanvi looks in a saree. Second half Madhu not my fave. All in all I was disappointed in character development and screenplay. The usual Dharma criticisms, plot holes blah, blah. But my takeaway is how adorable these two newbies are. I just about fell for them off screen and now onscreen. KJO did an excellent job presenting them and they shine despite the crappy movie not because of it.

The one honest moment I found strangely was the ending. I have read about something similar in RL. There could be a sequel there because of how the RL story played out IMO.

Music was ok, I felt Ajay dominated, could have used other voices and certainly a more female voice was missing for me.

Movie one time watch. The newbies, hope to see them in many, many movies.

Movie 2/5. Newbies: 8/10. Wonderful debut !

I liked it, in fact loved it! Ishaan&Janhvi have completely won me over...I don't remember the last time I fell this hard for an onscreen couple...I refuse to rate them separately as together they make one awesome perfect couple! So perfect that when they both are on the screen, everything else gets blurred out and you have got eyes only for them...And I can go on and on but I will stop now☺️

About the movie, its beautiful..If you are a romantic at heart, I guarantee that you will be thoroughly entertained! :)

Except that, most of the concept has been done away with in dhadak. The end doesnt make it a film about casteism or honour killing. The climax has intentionally been tweaked to pique curiosity and while that is okay, they have done away with the message to some extent.

@Bold: What?What is it about then?😕

They brought "dishonor" to the family, so by definition it is an honor killing though caste is hardly emphasized in Dhadak. It is not clear in Dhadak like Sairat. It could also be due to economic differences, humiliation of the family, because they defied the status quo. But it comes down to "dishonor" and hence the killing. It is intriguing though, the Dhadak ending. I do feel there could be a further story to be told.

All said and done, it IS about honor killing...

About the caste differences..Its possible they didn't want to talk about it at all because except for the one passing mention by Madhu's dad, I haven't seen anybody else talking about it...Its more about the class differences...Madhu clearly belongs to the working class while Parthavi belongs to royalty!

@Bold:Its funny you mentioned that because that's the first thought that came to my mind when I was finally able to grasp the climax scene...Can't say much without giving anything away about it, but arghhh I hope the second part is about kicking some ass@$%&##
