If this thread is to genuflect to Varun and Alia then yes technically even they are not starkids but insiders. We call them starkids as they are kids of star director or star producer. When you compare some small time stunt director like Sham Kaushal vs kids of one time hit machine David Dhawan and prolific director/producer Mahesh Bhatt or bigshot writer Salim Khan who used to be paid as much as the hero you will have to be daft to think being the son of stunt director helps much. But yes definitely he gets a foot in the door. Thats why KJo launches the kids of the star director/producer while he gives sidey roles to stunt director's kid.

For you Sham could be small or non-existent kind, but he also has same influence which a Director or writer could have. In Industry, everybody knows everybody.

For Raazi, Karan gave Vicky the most imp role, Alia's husband, not any soldier in army standing in 2nd/3rd to anyone, which brought him into limelight, For Sanju also, even bigger than Ranbir's role was Kamlesh(Kamli) role which took away more applause. Here, Karan & Raju didn't consider Vicky's father as small time stunt director.

he can certainly be bracketed under industry kid. being the son of an action director might have had impact during his initial years , no doubt about that. still others too have a point here, an action director aint a star like a hero or a filmmaker as they arent so popular or big.

a star is a brand whose name sells.
