I think the day hindi films start portraying real women (as they are in society), the craze for plastic surgeries among actresses will come to an end. Most commercial hindi films are male centric where the female lead gets reduced to a glamorous prop who only has to support the male lead in whatever he does and then fall for him. I think cinema should be a reflection of society and the stories of these hindi films need to be more content driven. The day our commercial hindi cinema cuts all the commercial bakwas and focusses on characterization and story, hopefully this obsession with plastic faces will also come to an end.

I am sorry. Report me if you wish to. It is worth the warning level but this has to be said. You are one hell of a racist/classist asshole.

I will admit that Rinku Rajguru is not a stunning looker. Many people may not find her attractive.

She is dark skinned and looks very much like what any rural Marathi girl would. Many people find this attractive. A lot of people appreciated the authenticity of having a very ordinary looking Marathi girl instead of a glitzy star.

While I do not condone the TM and other trashing Jhanvi for her looks, I see no reason to trash Rinku Rajguru either. And calling her "unhygienic" is very reminiscent of colonial overlords who thought indigenous people in colonies were unhygienic or of upper class elite Indians who think that poor Indians look dirty.

I am shocked that people have the gall to make such statements.

This person openly admitted in some other thread that s/he is a psychotic fan of Sridevi and hence wont hesitate to put anyone and everyone under the bus to defend Sridevi and everything related to her...S/he not just called another human being 'unhygienic' but in the same breathe said they have more to say which is much worse than 'unhygienic'...All because of what? His/her idol Sridevi's daughter is getting compared to this girl..🤢

This is the Zingat song in Sairat (the Hindi version plays in the Dhadak trailer)

As can be seen it is set in a rural village which is composed of mud roads and houses made of what looks like mud bricks to me. So when you ride a bike or dance on the road, you will be muddy and dusty, not clean and pristine like dancing in a haveli in Rajasthan like Dhadak.

I have watched Sri my whole life in three languages right from the time she was debuting as an 11 year old adult in South films. She had a horrible childhood by a mom who exploited her for money and who probably put the thought in her head that her beauty was not quite good enough. But that does not make the choices she made for her kid like plastic surgery as a teen right. Counseling could have taught her she was good enough just the way she was. She did accept Bonnie just the way he was even if he was overweight. She just decided her teens needed surgery to look good. I am sorry she felt she was not good enough to be considered beautiful even when she was. That is my version of empathy.

I don't condone plastic surgery. Especially for young minors. Heck, I don't even use makeup. I personally do not understand why some people feel the need to enhance their appearance by artificial means to look attractive.
Ultimately though it is people's personal bodies and their personal choices. For some reason, women (and men too) feel a need to alter their appearance - make lips fuller, make the nose smaller, enhance jawline, reduce/increase boobs, take botox for wrinkles, get liposuction to remove fat. There have been instances of dark-skinned people going through harsh bleaching processes and Asians trying to get their eye shape changed.

I will never understand that. But reading this thread (and sometimes forum in general) makes me realize why people might get insecure. Especially people who grow up and live in the public eye for most of their lives. Being told you need a mouth and jaw surgery the second you come in a film. Being constantly scrutinized on how you look. Being called dirty/unhygienic if you're dark. Being called a pale ghost if you're fair. Being fat shamed. Or being told you look like a twig.

Look, I don't think the PC extreme is healthy. Some obese people need to lose weight for their own health. And I am human too. I don't like men who are hairy. My friend's joke that I have a thing for blondes. I do have what I find attractive and unattractive. And yes, sometimes I do look at people and go in my head "Damn they are ugly."

But I try to show basic decency and sensitivity to human beings. Just because I find someone unattractive or even ugly does not mean I have to say it to their face and make them feel insecure about it. And I have absolutely no right to make comments on people's appearances and tell people to change themselves.

Historically movies have always catered to conventional beauty. But things are changing. Cinema around the world is embracing people of all shapes, sizes, and appearances. And genuine talent overshadows everything. Somehow no matter how ordinary (or even ugly) a person may look genuine talent, pleasant personalities and honest smiles have a way of making everyone attractive. And here's the thing - no one is holding you to gunpoint to watch a movie. Don't like how the actors look - give it a skip as simple as that.

Leah Michele and Barbra Streisand have long noses. Both have been made fun of for their noses. Glee had a really good storyline of how Rachel Berry wanted to get a nose reduction so that she would have a chance to be a Broadway star. It showed how the pressure to conform affects teenage girls even if they are not in the limelight. I have a really good friend who is in my opinion normal in most ways who had a jaw surgery for how her jaw looked. And she is on anxiety medication. So while I do not understand or condone surgery, I get why people get it.

If you are trashing Jhanvi and going out of your way to make her feel bad on the way she looks you are an asshole and should be ashamed of yourself. You should crawl back into the cave you came from. It is Ok to have concern over the pressures that have made her go through surgeries. It is OK to say she is not your cup of tea. It is OK to criticize her acting and call her a product of nepotism. But thats it. You don't have to be a dick to express you don't like someone.

Similarly, if you decide to trash Rinku Rajguru because of a need to defend Jhanvi. You are a sick human being too.

Sorry for the late reply. Had to cook. I can only tell you of my experience.

I am fortunate to be educated by my doctor at a young age about many things that affect teens like depression, body issues, healthy weight loss. My parents also raised me with awareness about a lot of issues . But no one can teach everything. So what I do is read up on something.

I hope I answered your question.
