Actually, both Freida and Priyanka have had similar careers. Frieda got the initial publicity rush that came with Slumdog the way Priyanka got with Quantico. Lots of attention, talk shows, magazine covers, party and award show invites and ads. Priyanka got Pantene. Freida got Loreal.

This lasts for 3-4 years max and then the interest starts waning, the invites lessen, some other new IT girls starts popping up and life moves on. Freida had to struggle it out in small roles, indie movies, periods of no work, etc. Priyanka can always rush back to BW to fill in the spare time. The HW label would help her the same way it helped Aishwarya even though neither one has done much valuable work outside India.

Didn't say it should, it was a counter to

A Kid Like Jake has created history by grossing a whopping $12,931 in 9 days. This is widely considered to be one of the biggest ever opening for an indie filck this year.

why does it happen only to women of color? someone like Dev patel has consistently worked in sucessful indie flicks for the past 10 years without any gap.But despite looks and more publicity actresses of color are always forced to take break. As far as Freida here is what has she said to vogue Australia before few months

There's a reason why you didn't see Freida Pinto on your screens for three years, and that reason was simple: "Typical girl next door, pretty face, doesn't really have complexities, lover, sidekick best friend, Pinto tells Vogue, listing off the casting calls she got offered post-Slumdog Millionaire success.

Shallow, "very one-dimensional and the opposite of empowering, Pinto describes of the roles, which despite starring in an Oscar-winning (Best Picture, no less) film, were her options for work. But the Mumbai-born actress wasn't having it, subsequently taking a break until the right (read: not sexist) role came around.

I'm not sure who wrote this, maybe TM can tell you. Maybe he wrote it himself. But this article is wrong. A Kid Like Jake was only released in 1 theatre for 3 days so far.

People are more judgemental of actresses, they purposely open topics like these about them and post bad pictures to get them bashed whereas people don't do that to someone like Dev.

If I remember correctly, despite having the lead role, Dev got a lot less attention than Freida because she was conventionally hot and fit in as a love interest for white men. In those days, she was everywhere, every red carpet, loads of magazine covers, talk shows, MET gala, you name it. She landed movie roles with Oscar winners like Woody Allen and Julian Schnabel. Dev had to work quietly and silently for a long time including doing a TV show before he got more recognition.

And also honestly, Dev is a much better actor than Frieda and Priyanka. Priyanka can be good in some BW movies but has been consistently awful in English language roles.

There's also the fact that the roles just aren't there for Indian women. Dev has just been lucky because there is barely anything available even for Indian men.

I have mostly seen Dev doing roles typecasted for POC. They hardly get casted for racially ambiguous roles. Atleast POC men are getting movies as roles are being written for them. It's rare to see Hollywood writing any movie with POC female protagonist. Even Priyanka talk about how she lost a movie because they didn't want POC actress. Last month Hannah Simone's show didn't get pick up citing the reason that America is not ready for brown superhero. It will take a while, heard Radhika Apte is doing a movie even though it's a three women project. But still it's a start.
