ABC cancels Quantico, Designated Survivor

ABC has canceled dramas Quantico and Designated Survivor, EW has learned.

In its third season, the FBI drama has been averaging 2.4 million viewers and a 0.5 in the 18-49 demographic. The series has undergone creative changes, with Michael Seitzman taking over as showrunner this year.

The Kiefer Sutherland-starring Designated Survivor, meanwhile, has changed showrunners numerous times, with its current season averaging 8.1 million viewers and a 1.6 in the 18-49 demographic.

Both shows will continue to air through their current seasons.

Not bad. Didn't think it would last 3 seasons. Now PC can move on to better things.

PC's probably glad to be done with the flop show. She has some name recognition in HW now and can try for movies or just go back to doing BW movies.

Good news for everyone, the audience, the writers & especially PC. She can move on to more varied roles now. HIT tv shows are a double edged sword, those contracts with studios have renewal clauses and can go on for 9-10 years and an actor is stuck. Friends, HIMYM, Seinfeld...massive hits but actors were ecstatic when they ended.

Nobody would dare blame ABC of racism, not practicing diversity, inclusion etc

So what if it comes at the price of quality

Friends casts were paid 1 million/episode and HIMYM I heard 5 million/year

They were very lucky... Coz except for couple of them, the rest didn't have much scope or offers

There are actors much better looking and talented who don't get that kind of break

Getting stuck in a hit TV show is one thing, but getting stuck in a flop TV show is even worse. PC got whatever she had to get from the first season. 2 and 3 didn't add much. She just wasted 2 years of her time.

Most tv stars don't have scope to make it as movie stars. It's the same way it is in India. There might be 1 or 2 breakthroughs but it doesn't happen often. Sometimes they get supporting roles and character roles like Ram Kapoor does. It works the same way in HW.
PC will definitely get offered more tv shows but leading roles in HW movies are unlikely. She is lucky because she always has BW. She is already going back to do Bharat. I think she will mainly stay in India like Deepika. Maybe if she gets another role, she can go to the US briefly. She won't live in NY anymore.
