Perception is one thing and sensitivity is quite another. In a country where more than 1 billion people are below poverty line, it is quite elitist to crib about foreign vacations and Rolls Royce and high end luxury brands. There are people who can't even be certain if they can get one square meal per day. It's not just these actors. I think so many of us crib and complain about so many useless things and act like we had the toughest life ever when there are people who go through actual struggles every single day. I guess it's easier said than done 😆

i billion out of 1.32 billion total are below poverty line? Where are these stats from?

isn't poor, rich, wealthy a matter of perception 🥱

every social class has its own definition of who's poor/rich

there is nothing wrong in this statement

what's considered wealthy for a middle class person is not the same for a a the elite class

and vice versa 😆

Dont know about rich but poor is definitely not dependant on perception.
I think there is a clear cut definition of "below poverty line" thingy and "can afford one foreign trip in a year" definitely does not come under that 😕

I grew up poor. My family had the same meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was the first in the family to go Uni. I do not wish being poor upon anyone.

I consider middle class families to be very condescending towards people who are poor. They act all high and mighty and have a smug attitude who is not like them. At least rich/wealthy folks are trying to help at times though charity where middle class families tend to be extremely materialistic.

I'm not Kanye, I wish I am although I don't agree with his statement

I explain to you what I mean

some people consider having a house, a car and a steady income is the definition of being rich

others in higher social class don't see it the same way,

every social class has its own challenges and struggles their definition of well being defers from the other

maybe having a 20 million USD in the bank acc is their definition of being rich

This week the Planning Commission said 29.8% of India's 1.21 billion peoplelive below the poverty line, a sharp drop from 37.2% in 2004-2005. (This means means around 360 million peoplecurrently live in poverty.) But one estimate suggests this figure could be as high as 77%.

No..not at all.
There are things like per capita income..,poverty line, etc etc for a reason
And living in India , being an Indian, one is expected to know better about what "poor" or not having enough money really means in this country.

So no.. Ranveer isn't going to be spared for such statements.

Rich is definitely a matter of perception & I agree with you there but poor is just not. RS constantly talking about his poor-me middle class stories is annoying, fake & disrespectful. I am not even one of those jealous self-righteous people who loves to be jealous of people & bash someone for their fortune all the while coveting what they have; but RS is just being dumb & VERY annoying!! He must. Be the least well-to-do amongst a circle of well to do people, agreed. But in your 30s you really cannot be so f**king delusional to imagine all these 2-3 times a year holiday, some of which were in SINGAPORE ITALY & the US in mid-90s INDIA, and not realise you're not middle class in India. When you realise this, stfu. It will do him good.

Also going by this logic, everyone has their own struggles. Everyone from Ambani to a beggar on the streets to a farmer who is slogging day and day out to a corrupt politician. And everyone from a privileged star kid like Alia to an outsider have their own struggles too. For one person, going on a holiday to the U.S. or buying a Rolex is 'struggle'. For another, getting shelter or food is a struggle. Are we really going to equate both the 'struggles' similarly on the basis of perception and relativity?

what has sensitivity to do with this topic ?? shame and gratitude !!

I'm talking about economics, numbers and bank accounts

every damn person has his own definition of his well being regardless of their sensitivity 😕
