We didn't forbid you to state your opinion so it's only natural that we can have something to say about anything that's being said here. The thing is that we only have to remain civil.

most base their sentiment on the notion that she was more or less the first daughter of a yesteryear superstar who actually had all the love, support and backing of her father when she first entered the industry and retained it throughout. Now we have seen many stars/ superstars launch and support their sons but that was seen as normal. But which daughter of a very big star was launched, supported and protected by her father like her? I can't think of many. Sure there was Twinkle who was a superstar kid but I don't think Rajesh career was as long as Anils when Twinkle debuted nor was Twinkle really interested in making a career. Plus Rajesh don't think he was actively harping about her. People like Karishma Kapoor don't count either because for one Randhir was never a huge star to begin with and secondly he was not helping or protecting whatsoever. Babita didn't have any pull either so she ended up pimping her teenager to any and every producer/director willing to cast her. The only thing they had were access to filmi folks due to being from the industry but to be fair given Karishmas silly milky looks and blue eyes they would have established the connections either way. Kareena had it easier because she was riding on the notoriety of her sister by the time she entered.
People like Kajol also despite being Tanujas daughter did not have a huge powerful parent.
I truly believe that one of the main reasons for the hate Sonam receives and especially received in the first 5 years of her career is due to the fact that she was the daughter of a powerful man who was willing to support her. Let's be honest if she was so horrible, unappealing etc she wouldn't be here today. She may not be as talented as her father was but she is not as horrible as she is made out to be Either.
She would have vanished just like the likes of Esha Deol, Abhishek Bachchan etc otherwise.
I think she is hated for being supported, for not having to prostitute herself to older married man for survival or protection, for having been born into an affluent family for affording her designer clothes without working. Seriously speaking, I love to see that she could from her known parent. Sons are pushed and hyped endlessly and nobody says much but when an influential man supports his daughter people get jealous and start hating. More girls should have been supported and protected by their fathers instead of having been forced to act with 30+ actors despite being15/16 doing all sorts of roles. Their fathers failed them Sonams did not. Because she was not married off packed away to lead a miserable life by the time she hit 25 while the son of the family was launched with a lot of dhoom dhamal and has been supported for nearly 20 years now still without any name, acclamation, fame of their of their own to this date.
Sonam Kapoor did not become a brand solely because of her father, of course she benefitted immensely as she should as she is his child. I want more powerful men to support their daughters in whichever way possible instead of leaving them to fend for themselves or packing them off to get married.

Isn't it proof of her perseverance that despite being seen as a "clothes horse" (I'm borrowing your words), she managed to achieve success. You might tell me that she had the luxury to await good scripts but truth be told, in Bollywood even the actors who don't hail from a filmy background have a rich family or at won't become peniless if they don't work. The privilege Sonam had, is that she was launched straight in the A-list so she had notoriety. But even then, starkids of really famous and emblematic parents were launched and failed to sustain in Bollywood ; it's proof enough that Sonam didn't steal her spot and deserves what she gets.

Like WHO? Which newcomer had the money to buy crores worth clothes and employ dress designer, stylist so that they can stay relevant till after half dozen years they get a good film?
