I feel like, somewhere, Sonam missed a trick wrt. "branding" herself as an actor "serious" about her "craft of acting" early on in her career (instead of letting her genuine love for fashion overpower her public persona) I don't think she is an amazing actress, but she is much better than what she is given credit for.
More power to people like her (and rhea) and Anushka who are making their own films and starring in them. I remember Sonam telling in an interview (I think Niranjan's) that she has been disregarded for films because the lead actor wanted his girlfriend to star instead of her.

So I think it is really cool that actresses are working to produce films on their own so that they don't always have to be at the mercy of powers-to-be for work.

And I really hope Veerey de Wedding works. I havent seen Aisha but liked Khoobsurat and I think it is nice that Rhea and Sonam are tapping into a genre that is so underrepresented in Bollywood - the quintessential chick flicks.

And regarding the whole Swara controversy: I disagreed with Swara's opinions but, she has a right to state it, and I felt the rebuttal from the writers was slightly more personal than warranted. So, I think Sonam had those sort of reactions in mind when she defended Swara's right to have an opinion (and NOT people's right to have an opinion on Swara's opinion, if that made sense lol..)

And regarding Sonam feeling jealous of Deepika - well I am sure she must have - I think she has even admitted that she does feel jealous of actresses now n then.. But out of all the actresses, I have always felt Sonam's professional ups n downs have least affected her personal life or her personal self and well being... I mean, almost everyone else, whether it is a Deepika or a Sonakshi or an Anushka or a Katrina, have given me an impression of having had a bit of a meltdown at some point or the other due to professional pressures, but Sonam has always managed to come across the same to me in the way we see her in public appearances, or in her interviews.

I'm not annoyed that others don't like Sonam, I only find it baffling that some people would take their time to hate on someone.
Yeah, one can drop on a thread and make a comment here and there but when it's always the same people saying the same thing it gets annoying.

I don't always share the same opinion with some people but it doesn't mean that I look down on them or that I'll ressort to be insulting.
Don't worry, my aim isn't to change anyone's opinion but at least, when someone write something that is false or incorrect then I can correct them.
I can also give my opinion to someone's opinion... that's what a forum is made for.

Even you like dissing people. That's actually why you came on this very thread...

You really don't have to justify yourself because many here have a lot of bad faith. As we are both Sonam fans, I read most of your posts and I know for a fact that you're way more classy than many here.
I mean you're arguing with people who don't even have the guts to take full responsibility for what they've been writing, once they felt the heat, they just edited their posts ... Says a lot about their kind.

Don't waste your time with them really : the only thing to do is to report and period.

The difference here, is that Swara stated her opinion in a very courteous way and she didn't receive criticism but abuse, hate and rape threats ...

Sonam supported her friend right to voice her opinion that's it.

Worst thing, is so many critics have expressed the exact same concerns but the way she was singled out and bullied says a lot about certain fanatics and the hypocrisy of certain people in this industry.

In the reverse case, if Deepika or any other star would have stated her opinion on a Swara or another " small" actor, nobody would have defended Swara especially that *** licker, Faridoon.

Sonam only, supported her, never spoke against people not agreeing with Swara but against abuses and threats !

Sonam, for all her flaws, at least is a loyal friend, always support her loved ones and is never scared to voice her opinion and speak up in favor of what she believes is right!

Interessting that she's not given the benefit of the doubt...

Is it so surprising that she grew up and learnt from past mistakes? I thought it was a really insightful and nice interview.

I haven't seen any gestures or reasons from her to change my opinion :)

Swara wrote an open letter where she criticized Padmavaati glorification of Jauhar, next thing she knows her twitter feed is filled with hate, insults and threats, industry plankton throwing shade at her, and Deepika and Shahid showing her condescending attitude.

Of course according to certain fanatics, Sonam forced her to write the open letter 😆
How predictable ...

More than that, everyone is entitled respect regardless of one's opinion ...

@ Kaoridz @ Marukkawhatever

Fanatics ( more like lunatics ) such as yourselves aren't helping Sonam's case .. Just spelling it out for you in case you didn't know already .. 😆

You are allowed to disagree & present a counterargument over the opinions presented here .. But when you mistake this "counterargument" as "liberty to berate someone for an opinion" , you aren't going to like what's coming for you next .. Learn to differentiate between a "discussion/disagreement" & "disrespectful retorts" ... You launch the first personal attack & then it becomes a vicious circle .. So , decide for yourselves prior to entering this vicious circle .. No use whining later ..

Article writer has unnecessarily dragged SLB's name in places not needed, to make interview sensationalising. It is not ethical. But which journo cares about ethics?
Question is asked about her choice of films which deal with women empowerment. She has answered, she cannot be part of a sexist or regressive movie. That could mean Dabang series too. But article writer inserts the words "The actress, who made her debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya, has some strong words..."
It makes is look as if, Sonam mentioned about Padmavat being sexist or regressive.

Also, suddenly a quote is inserted ( " I don't think, I am Bhansali''s kind of actor" ) which she stated much later in the interview, in a different context.

In summary, the article tries to portray the interview as her reaction to PV. But in the interview it sees like Sonam wants to restrict the interview about her work and she steers away from PV saying, she has not seen it (which I think is a lie).

Does she feel insecure with Deepika's success? After all, Deepika is her contemporary. If Sonam is a human, surely she would feel. But what is the big deal? We all have such feelings. Once their peak face gets over (after a decade), they can have normal relations (like Madhuri and Juhi).

Yes, Sonam's father is her strength. Not because he is powerful, but because he is so supportive. (Rich or poor families, dad like him is a dream). But she had her own challenges to face with. Weight issue, unwanted hair, break ups. She handled them away from the media, so we didn't see her struggle (except her haughty reaction to colleagues and journos who tried to put her down). Though Deepika also had strong family support, she was staying alone in Mumbai. Her melting down became public. But Sonam showed no sign of such things when Ranbir moved on from her to Deepika. She kept it within herself.
