🤗 Good morning JMS

Yes it's based on true story

Idk how many people are familiar with "The Chapaquidik incident" where (President JFK's younger brother) Senator Ted Kennedy left a young woman to die after a car accident, the accident he caused bcz of drunk driving and didn't spend a day in prison. He got off scot free

Interesting movie. I learned about this accident for the first time.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chappaquiddick_incident

Seems like it was a major controversy at its time. Ted Kennedy apparently drove off a bridge. He managed to escape and swim to safety, but the woman in the car drowned. He failed to report the accident to authorities.

sorry mom came calling so had to go.
oh i see.i never knew of this incident thanks for sharing.
somehow it reminds me of the salman khan hit n run case as well.
i do not know much abt it..bt i feel an accident is an accident so won't
blame someone for the accident as its unintentional bt what i disapprove
is unseeing the accident victim n deserting the victim leaving him/her unattended
to die a slow painful death.so its like causing willful death due to shrieking away
from moral responsibility.

also i must add that unlike India ..west do not seem to interfere/protest
much abt such incidental depiction right?i mean come to India by now ppl
would have taken to streets calling for a ban on this movie claiming defamation
to the kenedy family n what not.😆.
btw most of the kenedys also die mysteriously isn't it?revenge of that spirit of
the accident victim?😕

Bold - Agree but not if you're drunk driving

He was a 37 yr old Senator, a married father of 3, not a teenager at that time

This is from Wiki

"According to his own testimony, Kennedy accidentally drove his car off the one-lane bridge and into a tidal channel. He swam free, left the scene, and did not report the accident to the police for ten hours. Meanwhile, Mary Kopechne(28) died inside the car that was submerged underwater. The next day, Kopechne's body and the car were both recovered by a diver."

He was only charged for leaving the accident scene, his drivers license was temporarily suspended... That's all

He went on to serve on US Senate, hailed as liberal lion, lived a long life and died at old age

He threw a party that night, six young unmarried women and six married men attended

Both Kennedy and the young blonde Mary Jo left when the party was still going on...

Nobody knew she was leaving and she left her room key and purse at the party

Hmmm... Wonder why

Unfortunately, that was the only thing they had "evidence" to charge him for.

There was no way to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he had been drinking. Sadly courts can't convict on hearsay and speculation.

If ghosts time travel.

Both John and Bobby Kennedy had been killed prior to the incident. The only mysterious death after the incident is JFK Jr. But why 30 years later, and why a Kennedy unrelated to the incident - when Ted had immediate family.

We humans just like to believe in causation when the universe works more randomly.

Yes don't think all the tragedies in their family were a result of Ted Kennedy's action

His eldest brother was killed in war, two other brothers assasinated, another sister widowed within few months of wedding, within few yrs she and her fiance were killed in a plane crash

All these happened before "Chappaquidick"

Ted lived long enough, his eldest daughter died of Herat attack at 51 but that's after his death

(I think couple of RFK's sons died prematurely)
