It's not that Arijit Singh is any less talented.
He's in fact one of the most gifted singers
we have in our industry right now. Yet, he is
believed to have been unreasonably
replaced by Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali
Khan for a song from Sonakshi Sinha's
Welcome To New York, a film which also
stars Salman Khan in a cameo. Now
although it could be a possibility that Rahat
Fateh Ali Khan's voice genuinely sounded
better than Arjit for this certain song but
considering Arjit's public fallout with Salman
during Sultan in 2016, speculations are rife
that what if Salman asked the makers to
drop Arijit from the film?
For those of you who have forgotten the
infamous Salman-Arijit fight, it began way
back in 2013 when Arijit jokingly insulted
Salman at an awards show saying, "Kya sir
sula diya aapne? Obviously it looked more
like a fun banter between the two but
Salman was not a tad pleased about Arijit's
insulting behavior and decided to ban him
from his films, ever since. Cut to 2016, Arijit
finally got an opportunity to sing for
Salman's film a song in Sultan but much to
his dismay, Salman picked Rahat Fateh Ali
Khan's version of the song over Arijit's in the
nth minute, leaving the latter with no ray of
hope.
Arijit had even issued a public apology on
Facebook begging Salman to retain his song
in the film. He wrote, "No problem I
apologize here in front of everyone but
please it is a request please do not remove
the song that I sang for you in Sultan. You
want anyone else to sing this song,
absolutely fine but keep a version at least. I
have sung enough songs sir. But I want to
retire with at least one song of you keeping
in my library. Please do not take away this
feeling. However, the actor strictly chose to
ignore all his requests.
Now it's left to see how will Arijit mend
ways with Salman, now that he's lost out on
yet another song. Or for that matter, word is
that Arijit was even considered to sing Dil
Diyan Gallan in Salman's Tiger Zinda Hai but
only until Atif Aslam stepped into his shoes
and made it his own. Keep watching this
