I think that POV supports freedom of art in peace time but not in war time. We aren't at war...yet. But I think it is okay for someone to question if people from that country should be offered employment here. Can art really be separated like that from politics? Will the artists be given a free pass even if we went to war with them? Even if some terror attacks happened in India? What do the families of soldiers feel about this, if at all?

I know what the politically correct opinion is. And mine is that as well, except I would like this topic to be debated. I don't think we should dismiss someone's opinion just like that. Because there must be others who think similarly, they should be able to talk about it. Nobody should have to feel stifled for the fear fo getting bullied.

This is not about being politically correct. The Pakistani artists have nothing to do with what is going on at the border. It is like saying when America is waging war at another country they should treat people from that country as second class citizen or they should be banned, or not given jobs in America.

Also that phrase we have so many Indians who could sing instead of them makes me laugh. White racist people are constantly crying how foreigners are taking their jobs and this sounds just like that to my ears. Arijit has more than enough songs on his plate, I doubt he is sad about Atif's song. It's always the jobless singers crying who no one would've hired even if the Pakistani artists were banned.

These hateful debates need to stop. One can love their country and show patriotism without losing empathy for other humans. If we punish Pakistani artists in Bollywood, we are basically saying you are responsible for the pain our soldiers have suffered and that is unfair, and wrong.

Nope she didn't. She said she wants to give opportunity to Indians first and so wants her out. She was respectful in her words, AFAIR. Because I saw a similar statement in your post so I quoted. It is the same logic but given according to convenience maybe.

Frankly speaking I don't get this whole hype around ban the Pakistani artist thing
Do we care about our martyrs...ok let me tell u one thing guys two days back I have seen a post in which a girl said...Jammu mein itne log shaheed ho gyye aur social media par Priya prakash ke wink ki charcha ho rhi hai...firstly tho i felt strange but guess what she was right
we all have duniya bhar ka time to make 1000 topics on someone's wink but we can't make a single topic to pay tribute to those martyrs waah
So moral of the story is sara patriotism pakistani artists ke against hi nikalta hai khud kuch bhi mat karo

Exactly! I couldn't believe that billions of topics on Priya Prakash Varrier were there everywhere instead of the soldiers who got martyred that day.

Yes she did...she said something like gore...which was disrespectful...there is absolutely nothing wrong in giving priority to ur own citizens but its wrong to say that kick someone out because of their skin color..it was very disrespectful especially when Lucinda was a contestant chosen by Big Boss the owner of the show...she was already there because of the format of the BB show...she was an equal there so it was racist to say that she should be kicked out because she is a gori...didn't u read the blue part of my comment??

The debates should never stop. If there is a section of people who think like that and if they are wrong then they need to be convinced and not just shut up. But to convince them, first you have to hear them out. Understand what exactly they are saying and then counter it.

It is like putting sanctions on a country and that is done to put political pressure on them. Of course that will have to happen from the government's side for it to be official and just random Senas and artists cannot do it but if they want to talk about it, I see no problem. If it is just a rant because of joblessness then it isn't relevant to my post, because I am talking about those who feel genuinely disturbed that the citizen's of an enemy country may be getting employment in ours. Those people who will side with their country and never speak about its alleged involvement in supporting terrorism.

I just feel like they shouldn't be dismissed just because it may look like a hateful thing to say. It has become almost a fad to dissociate with people who cannot be as open and forgiving as the politically correct class these days. That may be why so many populist leaders are coming up in politics around the world. If only people be allowed to give their opinion without the fear of being tagged "hateful or regressive", they will be less prone to being instigated by some right-wing populist leader who will play on their fears to win votes and power.

I am just talking about the bigger picture here and not this specific issue. I hope I was able to explain the context.

Like I said, she had talked only about giving priority to Indian contestants over Lucinda and not her skin colour unlike Sapna who was incidentally never called a racist lol

that was when she was asked to give a reason for evicting Lucinda...her reason was justified then...but before that she was making fun of Lucinda and how she didn't deserve to be there and shuld be thrown out because she is a gori...that is why she was called a racist...not because of the reason she gave for eviction.

I really love Arijith Singh, but I really can't imagine him singing Dil Diyan Gallan better than Atif. Yes, maybe his version would be beautiful too but it is just that Atifs voice is very unique and powerful and has a kind of 'dard' in it. I have heard so many covers of the song be it from Sanam Puri or Rahul Vaidya, but none of them came close to the original.

As for the ban, I always thought it was ridiculous because at that time Fawad Khan became the target which was really unfair to him, and that only for a 10 minute appearance in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil like what 😆
I really miss him because he was a good actor and he seemed a good human being and that is what matters, not nationality.
However it is rather strange that actors are banned, but singers are not. I do hope the whole ban is lifted one day.
