What went wrong with Sonakshi's career?

I think she tried to go Katrina Kaif's way by playing mostly flowerpot roles opposite of superstars at the beginning of her career but Kat have sex appeal and Kat can dance very well where Sonakshi can't neither dance well nor she have sex appeal, she mostly worked with Salman, Akshay and Ajay for few years but as new heroines entered in BW, those actors started to work with the new heroines and didn't cast Sonakshi opposite of them anymore, I think she should've go Kangana or Sonam's way and tried to get good screen presence like them, I loved her chemistry with Ranveer Singh in Lootera and I always wanted them to work together on more movies but don't know why they never acted together again, Ranveer had much better chemistry with Sonakshi than DP or Anu.

Not related to the topic, did Ranveer and Sonakshi dated during Lootera days?

She's a good actor with alot of untapped potential. She should've polished her acting skills and done more women-oriented films. But as someone said, she's lazy like ARK to do all that. She tried to go the easy way by starring in Blockbuster masala movies, but she just lacked the looks and sex appeal to do eye candy roles. She was never going to be popular among the male audience because the tharki audience likes to see size-zero figure. Good acting skills would've kept her relevant, but.now she's nowhere.

Wanted to do eye-candy roles for easy success and when she finally decided to go for performance-oriented roles, could not succeed due to her lack of individuality. After seeing her in masala movies, people weren't expecting to see her in performance-based movies. And to act in such movies and succeed especially as an actress, you need some box office power. Which you gain by doing a mixture of both commercial and critically- orientated movies. Sona's mistake was focusing solely on commercial movies.

She didn't care -- she only wanted the easy route of piggybank on big stars for commercial films. She didn't try to balance at a time when the rest of the female actors a la Vidya/Kangana were pushing for more. By the time she cared to try, no one else was interested in seeing her and had already been bored of her.
