Shahid is a horribly miscast.Barely 3 expression in his face.He was a running commentary on never ending eulogy of Rajput parampara, prathistha, aan, baan shaan, maan.A big bore. 🥱
It rubs on Padmavati. Now you have two of them with their running commentary. With no voice modulation Deepika's dialogue delivery is worst. They have zilch chemistry.
Their love story is not developed.

Ranveer has the interesting character but plays him without consistency.

Plus points: Ghoomar,Khalibali and Shahid-Ranveer fight.

Watching Padmavati is like watching Katrina of the past all dolled up in her films but not expressions, zero acting.A film with no emotional attachment.

And I used to think his Charlie character from Kaminey and haider were tough roles. But alas, may be he should try to do pure black roles instead of grey characters

I agree about the emotional attachment part. It fell flat in terms of emotions. Didn't make me cry either which I expected coz of the tragic end.

you said he can't do tough guy roles and movies I mentioned were tough guy roles and from what I heard, in padmavat, he was asked to be subtle, way too righteous Raja and many even said that SLB didn't work on his character and still he did from what he was given so ya may be he is damn gud with tough guy roles and in Padmavat, SLB wanted khilji to shine. In fact, even the love story was not properly developed b/w ratan and padma and that's a fact that cannot be denied

Padmavati and Ratan's love story was not developed. Why she agree to marry him?He royally ignores his first wife after his second marriage.Inconsistencies in character coupled with their poor act,IMO was the reason for emotional detachment with them.
