^She has played several powerful roles in the past and pulled them off with elan. No reason for her to choose only one particular kind of role that will stereotype her.

Love this role and film. Aishwarya is apt for the role, apart from her I only see Tabu doing this film.

At 44, it's such a relief to see her still receiving such good offers from good production houses. Go Ash!

Why don't they leave the cult classics untouched without showing them in hollow, unflattering versions? Do the audience demand an encore? Certainly not.

After Mother India it was yet another iconic role for Nargis who breathed life into the troubled character of a woman with multiple personality disorder. For Aishwarya, to reprise a role immortalised by Nargis would not only be a big challenge, also it'll remain beyond the bounds of possibility.

So the cycle starts of embarrassment starts again-

-Do the film and spread rumours of an Oscar winning performance

-Release the unintentionally hilarious trailer and posters and pretend the world is dying to see you

-Release the movie to poor reviews but pretend they are great. If possible take it to Cannes to embarrass yourself further.

-Buy yourself a 'Nothing to hide' type of award from Stardust/Zee and pretend you gave an award winning performance

-Use your sasur's contacts to get some award like National Award for wholesome entertainment for the producer/director for the pains they took on your behalf.

Aish will ruin the movie with her mediocre acting, Nargis was an amazing actress. Does she want the repeat of Umrao Jaan where Aish got such horrible reviews.

^Not exactly, Aishwarya actually got pretty good reviews for Umrao Jaan. It was the film that got bad reviews. You can verify by looking up some reviews online.

From which angle can Aishwaria suit this role and character? They are poles apart. Nargis was more known for her acting than her beauty and the exact opposite for Aishwaria. Instead Vidya would have been a perfect choice 😔

I watched Ash's Umrao Jaan recently and it's nowhere near as bad as people claim. Actually rather liked it, perhaps even more than Rekha's.
