Shahid Kapoor who has been busy with
Padmavati will soon begin shooting for
Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
While the female lady is yet to be locked,
reports of Katrina Kaif being approached for
it has been making the maximum noise.
However, now the buzz is that the Shahid
Kapoor is not very interested in teaming up
with Katrina on screen. He apparently was
not happy with the filmmakers on the same
and he even expressed the same to them.
However, when we contacted director Shree
Narayan Singh for the same, he refuted the
report saying, "This is absolutely untrue I do
not even understand where this is coming
from why would Shahid be unhappy? Firstly
Shahid does not interfere with the creatives
and casting, secondly, We are yet to take a
call on this. Myself and Prerna - producer will
take a joint call very soon. Regards to Katrina
or any actor, it is the director's call and
Shahid equally supports this. To sum it up
Shahid has no reservations at all if Katrina is
on board, in fact, he will be glad to have her
on the film. It's better not to speculate
things like this."
Shahid will play the role of a lawyer in the
movie. The movie delves into the issue of
highly priced electricity bills which has
become a common problem for the citizens.
The film's teaser was released on Diwali.
"The subject of the film is very relevant to
our times. Diwali makes it just the right
occasion for us to shed light on a subject
that needs to be discussed. We look forward
to making a film that is both commercially
entertaining and encourages a social
conversation," said Shree Narayan Singh.
Singh also added, "I'm happy to collaborate
with Prernaa and Arjun of KriArj
Entertainment the presenters of Toilet: Ek
Prem Katha. As a filmmaker, it's a pleasure
working with a dream team of producers,
Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, who also always
puts the film first and understands
everything that goes into making a
memorable movie. Together we hope to
make another memorable film that reaches
a wide spectrum of audiences across the
country. I also look forward to working with
Shahid Kapoor. Someone with his talent will
do complete justice to the role."
