All of them will face it. They have made themselves sitting ducks for everyone. They all should have stood up when this stupidity started in 2015 with the intolerance debate.

I saw it on twitter yesterday...that Arnab Goswami, is now saying , SLB could have stopped all this long time ago...but seemed like he milked out this controversy very well...all PR!

maybe that's why most Bollywood is not saying much either.

but now its all backfired, or maybe not, cos maybe he really want movie to have a xmas release.

what I don't understand.. if Ranveer really truly loves deepika, why he is not saying anything, bad or good. just for the sake of SLB and movie he is keeping his mouth shut. interesting.

Now he is suggesting what should be in the trailer and movie as if it is funded by them . Basically the director cannot make a movie as per his imagination if it is related to history . Hope SLB and all those who wish to glorify Indian culture learn from this and let film makers like Danny boyle make films which focus on poverty .
And if karma is a bitch this kind of interference is not going to end anytime soon .Gradually they won't allow criticising the present or past of the rulers .

None of these people seem to understand that art should not have boundaries. Even if you think the history is wrong, protest peacefully and write bad reviews of the movie or don't watch it. But why do they have this much power where they can go around issuing death threats and get movies banned with government support? Nonsense.

But SLB is not stupid - he just landed in a soup of his own creation this time. He originally used all this for publicity to hype the movie and dominate the media space instead of just cutting out the few things they wanted and moving on. Now it's turned into a disaster.

I agree. This isn't the first time that a movie has offended groups before. But until now, I have never seen movie objections balloon up to such epic proportions before. Clearly, SLB and his team erred on how to deal with this situation.

SLB likes to use (and even create) controversies as part of his movie promotions, as he has done previously, but this time it really worked against him. What goes around comes around indeed

What trailer did this person (whatever his name is) watch? Khilji was shown as a barbarian who eats like an animal, is that glorification? And why do Indian politicians have to drag Pakistan into everything? I mean considering how they rave that Pakistan is irrelevant they still love to drag it into every conversation just like an ex-lover than one is not over.

Khilji is not even well known in Pakistan, unless you are doing a masters in indo-pak history. I read about him during my civil services exam when i took indo-pak history (worst mistake of my life). At this point history is all hearsay and made up. Only god knows if Padmavati existed or not or whether Khilgi was bisexual or not. Besides i dont think Pakistan wouldve allowed the release of the movie anyways.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic drama "Padmaavat" was on Wednesday cleared for release in Pakistan, said the censor board's top official.

"'Padmaavat' has been declared fit for public exhibition in the cinema houses without any excision by Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC)," Mobashir Hasan told IANS via social media from Islamabad.

The movie has been given 'U' certification.

According to some distributors in Pakistan, there were apprehensions over the movie given the negative portrayal of Alauddin Khilji.

Asked about it, Hasan said: "CBFC isn't biased in arts, creativity and healthy entertainment."

He said that for the film's certification, the CBFC co-opted Professor Waqar Ali Shah, Chairman, Department of History, Quaid-e-Azam University as per rules.

"A co-opted member has no voting rights. They are for expert opinion," Hasan explained.

"Padmaavat" is set for a worldwide release on Thursday.

Satish Reddy, Chairman, Eveready Group of Companies, a key film distributor in Pakistan, told IANS that "Padmaavat" should have a "very strong" response in its first week.

In India, the film's makers have had a long struggle in getting it to theatres as some Rajput outfits have been up against its release over alleged historical innaccuracies.

Shri Rajput Karni Sena activists have been staging violent protests across some parts of the country to stop the film's release.

Originally titled "Padmavati", the movie's makers were asked to make five modifications -- including title change, addition of two disclaimers, and some alterations in a song -- before it got a U/A certificate.

With Deepika Padukone as brave Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh as menacing Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as the proud king Maharawal Ratan Singh, the movie -- backed by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions -- sets out to tell a tale of Rajput valour and sacrifice.

The film, replete with Bhansali's trademark grandeur, is based on the 16th century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's famed poem "Padmavat".
