Suniel Shetty’s Kesari Veer Banned in Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack – Producer Takes a Bold Moral Stand

Bollywood star Suniel Shetty’s upcoming historical drama Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath will not hit cinema screens in Pakistan. This strong decision comes after the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which shook the entire nation. The film’s producer Kanu Chauhan from Chauhan Studios declared that this move was a matter of principle.

The film, starring Suniel Shetty along with Sooraj Pancholi, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma, is set against the backdrop of the 14th century. It brings to life the legendary defence of the Somnath Temple by fearless warriors. The story highlights their unmatched bravery and selfless sacrifice. But now, this cinematic tribute has also become a symbolic stand against terrorism.

While speaking to SCREEN, Kanu Chauhan said, “I have informed and instructed my overseas distributor not to allow my film to be released in Pakistan at any cost after hearing and seeing the Pakistani-based militant attack on Indian soil. I don’t want my film to be released in Pakistan. I have zero tolerance and there is zero justification for such cowardly attacks on our soil. I have put my foot down and Kesari Veer will not be released in Pakistan. It’s a moral stand and support towards the innocent victims who lost their lives in this terrorist attack.”

Even though the film will skip the Pakistan market, its release in India and other global regions is very much on schedule. Audiences in the USA, UK, Gulf countries, and North America can expect to watch Kesari Veer in cinemas soon. The makers have planned an official trailer launch in Mumbai on April 29.

Meanwhile, Suniel Shetty is also celebrating a joyful phase in his personal life. The actor recently became a grandfather after his daughter Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul welcomed their baby girl on March 24, 2025.
