Well, what you need to know is SRK wasn't that big star in 90s as he's now. Neither at that time movies were solely working on stardom, like it is the case at the present. So the movies in which Kajol starred with SRK weren't big Hits only because of his stardom. Kajol also had equal contribution in bringing the box office gold along with SRK and the content of the film.
Still Kajol had 6 clean Hits in 90s, which are non-SRK starrers. While Ajay has 8 Clean Hits in 90s in totality. But Ajay has also done alot more movies than Kajol in that period and has more failures too.
It's just that Kajol didn't had a long career like Ajay since she was an actress. But Kajol has seen more highs in her career than Ajay.

These are few of those films where kajol yas shone both as the actor and the star. I love watching kajol onscreen and she is one of those actresses who does less films but her roles are sth that stays with you. I remember watching kuch khatti meethi as a kid and loving kjol's judwaa act so much.

Kajol is versatile too, she has played characters that are grey too with SRK she has 4 b8g hits and remove her from DDLJ or KKHH , the films wouldn't be as iconic as they are.

I cannot wait to watch VIP 2, two of my favourite actors are playing the leads, even though the film got mixed reviews, will definitely watch for Kajol and Dhanush.
