Any story that makes it way to the public domain can be used for inspiration.They made some minor changes to the story like the background of the protagonist, the romantic interest, the very tumultuous relationship with the father, the climax etc. to technically call it fiction. It is, hence, allowed.

For e.g. Not many people knew about the Nanawati case in India until Akshay made RUSTOM on it.

The girl in question is now a felon and was an adult at the time of doing the crime so her identity has never been held from the world. In fact, CCTV footage/pictures of her are all over the web.The damage is done.

Unfortunate story of her life but it's so bizzare that it's intriguing.She is still serving her sentence.

I hope you watch the movie, now that you have followed the true story, you'd like it ;)

@Cricketfan - I don't think they would need permission or to pay for story. They have made many many changes to the real story. It is more inspired by a true story. Incidentally those saying bank robberies and loan sharks were plausible because it really happened should read the real story. She only really robbed 4 banks in 3 different states, was caught without difficulty, and federal prosecutors think she made up loan sharks to try to justify her crimes.

How did Sudeep Kaur ( hope I got the correct name ) steal the money from bank ?? Was it the same way as shown in the movie ?? that was the weakest point of the movie ...so damn childish ...
I would like to know if this was how she really did it ?

That is how she really did it. A paper, a lipstick and a threat - No weapon on her at all. It was unbelievably silly which is why the makers chose a comical angle.

Going tomorrow!!!!! Although the reviews are not all perfect 4 stars or 5 stars, I'm still VERY excited for kangana's performance. Have heard great things about her performance, so can't wait to watch it on the big screen! As for the movie, let's see If I personally end up enjoying it. 😳

This movie was waaay too stressful and anxiety inducing for me. The series of poor decisions Praful made and the way her entire life just downward spiraled into mayhem and misery as a consequence ...it felt so real:'( I wish they wrapped it up nicely at the end, I wanted some ray of hope that'd convince me that Praful would do just fine in the future, not sure if I got that:(

I don't even need to say anything about Kangana. She was just amazing. She put her entire soul into this film. She's one of the few actresses who will never ever shy away from playing characters who are already doomed to begin with, characters who never have their shit together and are just an all round hot mess.

I'm wondering why people have a problem with the bank robbery angle in the film if that is truly how Sudeep Kaur robbed the banks??
