Older singers out of work? - how is that possible !!

This post is made coz I was really angry when I read a recent interview of Shaan. According to him (and I was surprised that Shaan said so - he is usually so politically correct) he is out of work in the Bollywood industry and hence is starting his own YouTube channel coz why wait for the work to come to you? On principle it sounds amazing, but why should a singer like shaan have to hunt for work when he has already established himself beyond a doubt.?

According to him and I concur, he can hit all the notes that arijit can and sing better than him( his words, not mine..(Again I was surprised since this isn't a very Shaan thing to do) and yet the music directors are not preferring him. It isn't coz of his charge as according to him he charges much less than these younger singers. Even kk charges lesser than say either Ankit Tiwari or an arijit. Can you believe that? Only Sonu still charges a bomb, but that's also dependent on who is the song for etc., and still his charge is lesser than arijit.

Like seriously?

When change happens and it's good, change has to happen, it's usually a gradual process and it should be coz of one persons talent. Like when sonu came, Udit was 50plus and he was talented and bough but yet Udit was never really shunned away. Udit still sang many songs, just sonu sang much more. And eventually overtook him. But here I see the elder lot, not being so elder, just 40 something and they are claiming that they are out of work.

How is that possible!', and how is that fair??

So is it really that the younger lot are more talented?? You tell me!

OMG, where did he say all this.. do you have a video? It is surprising indeed because he's always so PC and is easy-going mild mannered types..

As for being out of work.. while I do like that young singers are being given chances, older ones also deserve chances.. I really wonder why Arijit is being given so much preference.

Anyway, I hope Shaan's channel is a hit, like his 90s pop songs were!!:)

There are a couple of articles. I'll give you the link. It's very very sad to see a legend like him say this. I have no idea what is happening to Bollywood music these days. While I like arijit, he just can't can't compete with these singers. Bus ho Gaya ab yaar!!!

Arjit has sur but his voice is overrated. I prefer the singers from the past like sonu, udit, shaan, kk. my God kk's voice was wonderful and so modern. why is arjit given every song is beyond me. his voice doesn't even suit half the people he sings for. bollywood music these days is horrible

But arijit making shaan, kk, sonu out of work???

Oh please!! I'm shocked! Gimme one song if arijit that you like, and I will give you two songs of these others who have sung it in better sur and emoted better. New talent ana chahiye, koi galat baat nahi hain, but arijit causing these singers to go out of work. Ha!!! Ye toh too much ho Gaya. Itna bhi talented nahi hai woh!

things have changed ..,in an interview with sonu and jeet ganguly jeet said sonuji koi bhi gana gaasakte hain 90's ke us dour main sonuji "Yeh Dil Dewana" jasa texture laaye thay ..than sonu eloborate that aaj sirf music director nahi chose karta singer ,,,,music director kuch bolega toh music company kuch boelege ...if music director want me to sing but its pressure from music labels and companies ke xyz ko gawana hai ...he said that people should stop expecting me to become same sonu nigam jo radio ap chale toh har 2nd song uska hoga woh time ab nahi ayega and i have accepted this fact

Accepted and all is ok yaar. And I quite know that they can't be the same as before. Coz new talent has to come up. So that's all fine. I don't want them to sing all the songs. They have reached the stage on their career where they can be selective about what they do.

But to actually be out of work?? Log pagal hain Kya??

And music producers and companies or directors ko kya problem ho Sakti hain? sonu, kk, shaan ki awaz nahi pasand.. ye producers behere hain Kya???

I don't need to read the article to know it is all because of Arijit.
