The way he treated Aishwarya, i doubt if was ever serious about her as well. When abuse is termed as passion, that's how rape/violence culture propagates.

Aishwarya had enough clout to come up in open, And she was heavily penalized and ostracized. Because of her beauty background and her resourcefulness she managed to gain a foothold in HW ( no matter how flimsy) and thereby regained some position back in BW before she met Abhi.
