Wow this can be Kriti's "it" movie. The proverbial turning point of her career. Good luck team Bareilly ki Barfi. This might emerge a hit owing to the low budget.

Bareilly Ki Barfi First Day Business

Bareilly Ki Barfi had a low opening day at around 2.25 crore nett apprx as it did a little better in the Delhi NCR area while other areas were mainly dull. The film has a UP setting but did not really collect there as there is no value for the mass centres.

Mumbai fared poorly with onley Mumbai city and Pune having worthwhile collections. The film will get growth on Saturday especially as Delhi NCR os performing best and the multiplexes have huge jumps on Saturday. It will need Monday to come in around the same mark as Friday to get a run. .

Annabelle Creation is a surprise with collections around the 4.50 crore nett mark and in the metros this film was first choice of the audience despite Bareilly Ki Barfi releasing and Toilet Ek Prem Katha on a good run. The Hollywood horror film had been released on Tuesday on previews and also managed some decent collections in the Tuesday to Thursday period of around 2.75 crore nett so the total now is 7.25 crore nett apprx. This film has probably made the figures of Bareilly Ki Barfi and Toilet Ek Prem Katha come out 10-15% less than they should on day one and day eight respectively.

The other releases Partition 1947 collected very poorly wherever released.

Saw BKB today. Definitely the rom-com of the year. Loved it to bits. The kind of film that makes you smile when you leave the theater.

Kriti is a revelation. Even though she doesn't fulfill the physicality of the role, as in, she looks way too urban and polished to play a small town girl, full marks for her acting chops. I found her very natural and she makes the character very endearing.

Ayushman is really good as the scheming, love-struck boy. Tailor made for this kind of role.

Seema Pahwa and Pankaj Tripathi are absolutely hilarious as Bitti's parents and so are Munna and Rama who play the best friends. Spot on casting.

Although all the actors were top notch, the film still belongs to Rajkumar Rao. He just makes you fall in love with the bumbling, wimpy Pritam Vidrohi. He is such a riot on screen, especially when he changes into the goonda-mawaali character. I was so rooting for Bitti and Pritam to end up together.😆

The entire small-town milieu, the dialogues, especially the hilarious one-liners and the ambiance of the movie is very authentic. There is nothing pretentious or artificial about BKB. Also, one of those rare films, where the second half is better than the first.

Its a must-see film. I think it is going to get excellent WOM and will emerge as a sleeper hit.

Good movie after a long time. And yes Kirti's acting is very good. She's very natural and spontaneous. Hope she chooses good films now. She can easily get into the A grade league of actors.
