3 Idiots, in my opinion, should have gone to three lesser known younger actors. Many people could have done it well. But it may not have been as big. In Dangal I felt the father should have been a different actor because Aamir took too much focus away from the Phogat sisters.
That being said Aamir Khan is a phenomenal actor who genuinely puts his heart and soul into his roles. His effort clearly shows in the final result. He breathes unique life into each character.
However, he is not the only talented actor. There are many with their own strengths and weaknesses. I also believe that there is no role that cannot be done by someone else. Good actors make a role theirs which makes it impossible for us to imagine any one else in it. However, had someone else done it, it would be good but different.
