But believing in superstitions is completely different. Most of the time it doesnt have any purpose or logic than to trouble people or to extort them. Previously pandits used to really 'know' stuffs and astrology (I am talking about 1000/2000 yrs back, the beginning of Arya sabhyata), but now they become monks and nuns to earn money. It's a quick business for them to fool people by asking them to do extra puja, yogya, wear stones in hands or perform some rituals about which they themselves dont have any idea.
PK, OMG these movies showed the difference between superstitions and actual 'faith' in a very delicate way. Parents are God to us. They have a physical appearance. But that is not why they are God to us but it is because of the energy, values and inspirations they trigger in us is exactly why they are worshipped by us. It is upto individual whether they would idolize that faith in the physical form of their parents or have it in them as a source of power. No one can judge or question that. But in the name of faith if somebody comes and tells me 'You do this else you will be harmed' - that is unacceptable. And believing in the third wheel is superstition I think. Astrology is science, but no one knows it anymore. The day the babas give advise free of cost for the genuine welfare of the society, I will start trusting them. Also there are co-incidences, because a cat crosses a path and somebody died after that in so and so place, doesnt mean it becomes a bad omen. It's accident.
Above is completely my opinion. Sorry if that hurt anyone as it's a sensitive topic and no one is right or wrong in an abaolute way.
