I do not think it is an aversion to "lust". There have been some explicit movies that have been critically acclaimed and successful.

I think the problem is that the audience could not find a "soul" in the narrative. They could not buy a genuine chemistry between the lead pair. They found the narrative of an engaged woman flirting with another man disingenuous. It seemed more of a lame Eurotour promotion rather than fantastic storytelling.

Tharki boy did not get b grade level lust so he was left wanting

That's. me. I wrote earlier how much better the film would've been if they'd been upfront about it. Sejal's tharak for Harry and making up stories about lost rings...but then instead of full on b grade tharak they started some crap.

I think the main issue why the film failed is probably the consistency issues, and honestly, SRK is past the age where he can simply romance a girl and do a movie on it.

But I honestly loved the movie.

Kyun ki film was bokwas for most people and (most) people have no faith in SRK films. With the easy availability of content, people are opting to visit theatres for event films aur simple Indie stuff these days. This probably is just a phase tho.

Indian audience (true for desis all over) is just like any other audience. They are willing to give movies a chance...and once they hear through word of mouth that movie is worth is they spend their money and time to go and see it. audience is never wrong because it is not one person but thousands of people and when thousands give their input the result is reflective of real aukat of the movie

i dont care if it has my fav anushka and king khan who is the best actor in india and biggest star. if u r going to give crap food in fancy packing the food will end up in trash.

there is a serious issue with story..visuals were good..acting was good...songs were nice...but it failed at box office. i agree with rth that soul was missing...

ibnebattuta did not get what he wanted as well...
