I think Rahul never understood love completely UNTIL he lost Anjali. Hence the scene with the train, it's only when she leaves and he's left standing there, they show a very confused and hurt Rahul watching the train leave. Perhaps confused by how much pain he felt at the thought of her going away and leaving him.

I think the Rahul was shown as an immature typical young guy who saw a pretty girl (Tina) and fell "in love". But his true love and soul mate was always Anjali. Anjali was mature and recognized it a little earlier, though even she, only after the phrase "love is friendship" and watching Rahul fall for someone else.

Both needed a trigger to realize it. It was love though

he was describing her current looks, rahul was exposed to the same looks also, so I do not get ur point😆 rahul was best friends with that jhali anjali, and missed her for so many years, loved her for so many years, that means nothing?😕😆

I do not know what is there to not understand... Even if Rahul and Aman were exposed to same looks of Anjali at different points, Aman could see beyond her physical attributes and love her. But it took Rahul almost a decade and sari-clad vision of Anjali to fall fall for her.

Rahul was best friend with Anjali...agreed, he even played basketball whenever he missed her.. well I do not agree but I will give him a benefit of doubt here, but what I DO not agree is that he loved her for so many years or ever loved her...

It is for you to understand that these are my views which are different from yours...My opinion, my rights and you do NOT have any right to mock my opinion and shove your views about Rahul-Anjali's love down my throat as universal truth.

So while you continue to have our opinion, let me have mine...

I feel like a lot of people misunderstand/don't understand Rahul from this movie.

Yes, he was a shallow jock in high school, but he always had a much deeper relationship with Anjali. IMO, he always loved her, but didn't realise till much later that he had deep feelings for Anjali.

And no, he didn't just realise when she became prettier. Cuz, remember in the ladki badi anjani hai song, he imagined her from college days...as did she.

And why was he so upset when she left college if he didn't love her?

For him, love was always friendship and Anjali was his closest friend and Tina could never be that person in his life.

Love is a complex emotion and has many facets & holds different meaning for different people.

I dunno why so many people can't understand that.😕

thats ur opinion not a fact

how can u be so sure that aman doesn't love her for her sari clad looks?? and loves her beyond her physical attributes?? because of some joke he said to amuse a little kid? he doesn't even know the real anjali, didn't even know she was unfeminine and played basketball! They hardly have any interactions with each other throughout the movie, no meaningful conversation, nothing!😆
