He is an insider, but not a part of the elitist insider crowd. Of course people like Sonam Kapoor would find him to be an outsider, from their perspective he is not as privileged and elitist as THEY are. They use themselves as a measuring scale. But from an objective perspective, he has mixed with filmy crowds and had insider connections for years before he debuted, in a way that true outsiders cannot have or make.

nope no one is asking u to feel sorry for him, its just that some here dont want to believe that he had any struggle at all so they can try to prove that he is the same as starkid, well if it makes u feel better then carry on believing it even tho the industry is saying another thing

just watch one of his interviews about it, u will hear about how he went to casting directors and he wudn't get anything, but its ur choice if u choose to believe him or not, many hear r choosing not believe anything that ranveer says for some reason

lol...even karishma k had to sort of struggle to get in...even kapoor khandaan was no help.
ranveer was rich, had some connection with industry, distant connection,, not to forget financially back up from rich parents.
I used to hear that govinda had no filmy connection and he used to sleep on footpaths to get in movies., but later I found out that he also had some connection.

real outsider you call is shah rukh khan, no connection at all!
