It's mechindi le Devasena, not nachindi le, and it means 'Devasena approves of you'. 😉

I think Sivagami was strong outwardly, but I believe she was intrinsically weaker than Devasena. A strong woman both inside and out fights for her beliefs. She has faith in her values and doesn't let outside forces make her question herself. Devasena fought for justice. She questioned the laws of the kingdom that were unfair to the lower classes and women, whereas Sivagami blindly believed in them and followed them to a 'T'. Sivagami was intrinsically good. She did believe in justice, but her sense of justice was warped, and she also had an ego problem which got in the way of her thinking clearly. An intrinsically strong woman does not let her ego rule her decisions. She has faith in her beliefs and values. Even when she is at a disadvantage, she fights for her values and stays true to herself.

I think Sivagami was certainly strong physically, but she was also insecure, as it's insecurity which leads ego to overcome good sense. I tend to give more importance to strength of character, and emotional strength, over physical strength, so for me, Devasena was stronger than Sivagami.

Couldnt have said it any better. Still cant understand the grounds on which Sivagami's decided to anoint Bhalla as the King over Baahu. How does Bhalla, who was ruthless and mowed down his own country people during the Kalakeya war score over the compassionate Baahu, the one who saved the innocents, hesitated to kill the Kalakeya leader as his mom wanted him alive?

With regard to Kattappa, the Rise of Sivagami novel details Kattappa as loyal slave to his master Bijjala while Vikramadeva (Amarendra's dad) was compassionate towards Katappa and his brother. I guess Katappa just proved his loyalty to his original master by killing Amarendra, compassion be damned.

I guess Devasena didnt trust Katappa enough (though she seems to have forgiven him) to have him release her. A Kattappa who can kill Amarendra all for sake of loyalty wouldnt think much before harming Devasena for sake of the same loyalty, even if he released her.

Just a thought, and this based on Rajamouli's previous films too: do you guys reckon that Mahendra is Amarendra reincarnated? Following the Indian narrative, we have seen this happen in quite a few movies before, where someone dies and is reborn as the son or as someone else's son.

Do you think Rajamouli was intending that?
