I asked b/c I just had a huge argument with someone at home who was hell-bent that in a conservative colony like ours with "riff-raff bordering the outskirts of it" western women shouldn't wear shorts & neither should a friend whose in-laws didn't appreciate her wearing shorts "to save her marriage she should've realised she shouldn't wear such clothing." It's interesting to see how many people our own age believe in this line of thinking. I don't doubt your feminist credentials, why would I, I was just quite shocked at these comments but then I do see them being echoed online a lot too..
