Devasena woke up at the sound. She looked down to see her Son's and Avantika sleeping on her lap. But they too woke up to the sound.
"Rani Devasena! Aa chapudu
"Amma! Nana?
Aslam was already up and others followed his suit. Everyone came out and whatever they saw, made their eyes well up, mainly Devasena. Her husband was on his knees.
A few moments back..!
Amarendra who woke up, came out of the caves and saw Kattappa standing and Amarendra was about to call for his mama, when he saw, there beside.. Was that, really..
"Baadshah!
Was all he could say as he saw his horse standing there. He took steps towards Amarendra and next moment collapsed. And Amarendra who also took steps towards Baadshah collapsed beside him.
Amarendra caressed Baadshah and Baadshah blinked his eyes that were shining. Amarendra's eyes were also welling up. He could see Baadshah panting with all the work he had done to come here.
Devasena who came there held Avantika's hands as she saw her husband like that. Mahendra put his arm around Devasena while Aslam stood silently in their support.
"Rei Baadshah! How are you ra?
Baadshah snorted even in that condition. Amarendra chuckled as his tears flowed. Baadshah lifted his head up and nudged Amarendra who hugged Baadshah neck.
"Rei Baadshah! I come alive after all these years only to see you like this?
Baadshah panted.
"What happened to all our dreams ra? Where is Veera?
He asked in rusty voice that held ample amount of pain. Baadshah blinked his eyes. Devasena came to them and caressed Baadshah who revelled in the feel of his masters' touch.
"Just like us, Baadshah also got separated from his Mate Amarendra. Veera died 7 years ago.
She said not able to stop her own tears. Amarendra bowed his head down. How much more pain has his family endured? Devasena held Amarendra's shoulders.
Baadshah's breathing grew heavy. Amarendra understood it was time. At that moment he saw Baadshah's eyes shine. Amarendra and Devasena turned to see Mahendra standing there and looking down at the animal. Devasena called him.
"Baadshah. Mahendra
"Our son ra Baadshah
They introduced. Baadshah lifted his head and MAhendra bent down. He touched Baadshah's neck who nudged him once.
Baadshah turned to Kattappa who went behind the woods and came back with black horse with white spots on him. Amarendra looked at Baadshah who nudged him. Devasena smiled.
"Their colt Amarendra. Dheera! 7 year old baby
Amarendra looked at Devasena in question. Devasena nodded affirmative saying that Veera indeed died giving birth to Dheera. Amarendra caressed the colt who stood beside Mahendra.
Baadshah looked at the family and his colt and lifted himself up giving one last squeal before collapsing completely.
"BAADSHAH!
Amarendra shouted shaking him. Devasena's tears were flowing continuously as she saw her usually calm and composed husband breaking down. Kattappa stood with his head bowed as he expected this. Dheera, the baby colt, put his head on Mahendra hiding itself in his new master. Mahendra hugged Dheera's neck and caressed him.
One life ended paving path for a new relation.
Kattappa could not help himself from thinking of Sivagami. A fiery seventeen year old girl who came to Maahishmati in disguise to avenge the death of her father, who was the actual king of Maahishmati, his master.
She had always hated slavery but her ancestors never minded this as it had been promised long long ago. Sivagami was epitome of justice. She had a justified reason to avenge her father King Rudraksha's murder. But she did not kill him. He still remembered how it was Bijjaladeva who killed his own father in rage. It was Sivagami who saved Bijjaladeva and married him for a reason he still knew nothing of and made Vikramadeva the King of Maahishmati and also got him married to one of a well known kingdom's princess, Yuvarani Nalika.
"Thalli! Why did you even marry him when yuvaraja Vikramadeva was promised to you?"
Sivagami smiled. Kattappa failed to see the fire in her eyes that he saw for the first time when she entered Maahishmati.
"Maharaja Ranadeva Bhoopati promised me Yuvaraja! Not particularly Yuvaraja Vikramadeva."

"And Vikramadeva cannot marry me Kattappa! It is not good. After all he is my own Aunt's son. And There is no marrying into blood in our family. You know that.

Kattappa sighed. He knew that the discussion was over and Sivagami is not going to put forward her feelings. But he later got to know that Maharaja Ranadev Bhoopati got Sivagami's promise to marry Bijjaladeva for the sake of Maahishmati and Vikramadeva's life.

Kattappa's thoughts broke at Amarendra's call.

Kattappa asked.
"Make arrangements for Baadshah to be cremated with all rights.
Amarendra said caressing the lifeless body of his friend. Kattappa nodded his head. Naayaka who came there, also joined Kattappa in helping him.
Mahendra turned to Dheera and held him close to himself. He did not know why, but he felt a strong connection to the colt.
Devasena helped Amarendra to get up and took him inside their caves. She made him sit there and got him some water as he was panting a lot. She rubbed his back and calmed him down.
"Amarendra!
Amarendra hugged her and hid his face in her crook. She caressed his hair. It was a great loss for them. Their trusted loyal friend was no more. But it was miracle that Baadshah stayed alive so long. Somehow she did not want Baadshah to be put down and Kattappa understood her and had been saving Baadshah this long. Maybe only to see this day.
And though Devasena never said anything aloud, Kattappa understood that Dheera had to be brought up in secret with lot of care.
Devasena looked at her husband who was trying to seek peace in her arms. She sighed.
"Amarendra! Nanu choodandi!
She said holding his face. She tilted his face for his eyes to meet hers.
"Enough! Baadshah is happy now Amarendra! He had been through hell in last 7 years. But seeing you, he was happy at his last moments. Please do not make him sad by doing this to yourself.
"But Deva! Baadshah has been..
"I know! Come let us rest him in peace and let him join Veera
Amarendra followed her like a kid. Her thoughts went back in time when Baadshah had been their savior.
Devasena was sitting in the garden behind their chamber looking at the Patralu. Just like her husband, she also found something amiss. But her thoughts were on Sivagami. How come she missed this. These patralu should go through King and Rajamata for final review and she could see that there was a big hole in the accounts for past many months.
Her frown did not go unnoticed by her husband who was in his usual evening time sword practice.
"Deva? What is wrong?
"Amarendra, do you send these to Rajamata?
Amarendra kept his sword and came to her. Devasena kept the patralu down and wiped his sweat with her saree pallu making him smile.
"Of course! She should only approve the funds for new set of weapons and also she would be the one to finalize everything!
Devasena sat thinking hard which Amarendra felt was too cute. The way she was sitting with her tummy showing, leaning a little back for comfort, and her face crunched in serious thought, he found it amusing.
He chuckled shaking his head. He took his sword again and went for practice. He was swinging his sword when suddenly he felt obstruction. He looked up to see Devasena standing there with her sword smirking and raising her eyebrow. Amarendra was taken aback for a moment.
Was she really going to do this? In this stage? But then he could see her blinking her eyes saying that she was fine.
"Deva! No! You are half way through 5th full moon.
"I am fine and so is our child. He also needs some activities Amarendra. And so do I. I cannot sit idle.
" But this?
" We will be fine
When he was about to protest, she wielded her sword, letting his fly in the air. Amarendra smirked and he knew that his warrior queen was capable of this. So he caught his sword on cue and smiled. Just as she was about to strike, he blocked her sword raising his brow. Her eyes grew determined. She pushed him and moved forward striking him again and he blocked again.
"Ahan! Deva!
"What?
"Shall we have a wager?
"What wager?
She asked as they both moved around the garden dueling. She could see her husband's eyes catching the glint and she got alerted.
"If I win..
"Will you?
She asked smirking. Amarendra raised his brow.
"Ok! The loser should do as the winner says. Agreed?
Amarendra moved aside as her sword came in lightening speed to his abdomen. He moved fast and went behind her to strike when she blocked him with the same speed.
Amarendra smiled. His wife was fast given her condition. He so wanted his child to be like her. At that moment Amarendra felt her sword coming to his eye and he blocked it looking at her with his eyes widening.
"Deva! My eyes
"While dueling, if you are going to moon over something, then you should get ready to get injuries Amarendra Baahubali!
He smiled as his mother and Mama also taught him the same. But what could he do if his wife was so cute with that determined stance of hers. This time it was his turn to strike and she very shrewdly bent and swirled around him. Her hair caressed his face as she moved and he smiled revelling in the feel. Devasena too smiled as she understood his smile. Soon both were enjoying the game and both were going at equal pace. Last strike Devasena was about to give when she heard a Squeal and turned which gave Amarendra a chance to dislodge her sword.

"Ahan! Rani Devasena! Concentration is very important while dueling
Devasena glared at him, but frowned hearing the squeal again. Amarendra turned to see Baadshah running to him. He went to him.
"What happened ra Baadshah?
He asked as he caressed his pet's neck. Devasena went inside and came out with sugar treats for Baadshah.
"What are you doing out of stables Baadshah?
Devasena asked as she caressed him.
Baadshah squealed. Amarendra understood that something was wrong.
"Baadshah! What is wrong?
But Baadshah went from there to the place where refreshments for Devasena were kept and went and pushed and nudged out the pitchers.
"Baadshah!
Amarendra called in warning. But then he saw the juices on the floor and saw something. Devasena also frowned looking at the crushed black seeds. Devasena and Amarendra took those seeds. Amarendra smelled them and immediately swatted Devasena's hands that were about to take those seeds to her nose. Devasena frowned.
"Ganneru pappu Deva!
He said in a heavy voice shaking his head. But then Baadshah kicked the pitchers again which caught Amarendra's attention. He took a closer look into the pitcher and found out why Baadshah was kicking it.
"Vadina's refreshments!
Devasena frowned. What was Prasanna Devi's refreshments tray doing here? But Amarendra was already turning to Baadshah.
"Baadshah! Ekkada vinnavu ra? Did you listen to someone talking about this?
Baadshah snorted nodding his head.
"Who?
Baadshah turned his head and looked here and there. Then went about pointing to the Sivalingam that was in the Fortress center that was visible from their garden.
"Amma?
Amarendra asked as his voice grew more deep with pain. Devasena was taken aback. Why would he even ask such question? But Baadshah shook his head. Devasena thought why would Baadshah point to Sivalingam when it was not Sivagami. But then something striked in her mind.
"Baadshah! Rudrasena?
Baadshah squealed nodding his head. Devasena scowled. What was Rudrasena trying to do poisoning Prasanna Devi's food?
"Amarendra!
"Maahishmati in Danger Devasena!

Devasena came back on her husband's call. She looked at him and saw that he was looking at her with those eyes that were so sad.
"Its time!
Devasena nodded. And by sunrise, Baadshah was rested in peace. Amarendra stood there hand in hand with Devasena as he watched the fire consume his pet, his savior and at times, who cared for him more than people around him. He remembered how this black stallion caught his attention being new born in the royal stables. Amarendra who went everyday to stables only to visit him. At that time, Amarendra was 17 years old when he met Baadshah.
Amarendra felt Devasena's grip on his palm growing tight and looked at her. She shook her head in a no.
Amarendra closed his eyes taking a deep breath. But then he saw Devasena smile. Frowning he looked in the direction of her sight and found Mahendra caressing Dheera who was nudging him.
Amarendra smiled. He understood that Baadshah and Veera were with them indeed, actually with their son. He put his arm around Devasena and looked at her. Both of them turned back and walked to the caves hand in hand as the sun rose behind them.
There in Maahishmati..!
Bijjala sat holding his glass of Madhira. It has been 6 days since they had lost their peace of mind. But was that true? Bijjala thought now. He shook his head.
No he lost his peace the moment he set his eyes on her. On that 17 years old girl. He killed his father, he lost his kingdom, he lost his throne, he lost his peace, he lost everything.
Today he was seeing his son sailing on the same boat who lost his peace just because he set his eyes on a woman. At least he got Sivagami, but his son..?
"Yuvaraja! What have you done?
He could still hear Sivagami's voice echoing in his ears. He thought of how he killed his father.

He could feel Sivagami running to her father. But for him everything went blur. Had he just hit his father? Was he that angry?
"Maharaja!
"Sivagami! Look at my sin standing in front of me!
He heard his father say with a lot of struggle.
"I promised you to Vikrama without consulting you as I know you would refuse. Because Rudra family do not marry into blood. But I was selfish.

"I also know what you did. But still I know that you would save this Kingdom. Promise me Sivagami
He saw Sivagami promising his father who took his last breath. And then he saw her turning to him with the fire in her eyes.

Bijjala did not take this seriously for that moment as he was getting what he wanted.
Thinking of it now, he understood that sivagami had played everyone well taking the ultimate power into her hands. She had Vikrama eating out of her hands as he changed everything and gave the powers in her hand.
Bijjala could not take it anymore. And he could not see his son like this anymore. But what could he do?
Bhalla thought the same. What could he have done to stop this? What could he have to not see this day where he was confused and did not know his action? He remembered his mother teaching him and his brother.
"Never stop at anything when you are on the way of Dharma. Never bow down when you know that you are not wrong. This is what a Kshatriya does my sons!
And he did that. Rightfully the throne was his. Though he knew that his brother would not come back claiming it, he knew that when people are on his side, he could do nothing. He knew that this was the Dharma his mother taught him. But in a way, this was his Dharma! Where he claimed what was rightfully his and secured it for his son and his future.
"That Throne is not yours in first place Maharaja!
He looked for the source of the voice. But then it was his own brain playing with him. He remembered how his wife said the same too.
Prasanna was standing in her garden when she saw the beautiful sight of her brother in law and his wife dueling and enjoying their life in spite of being a normal army head. But she looked at herself, the Queen who was standing here while her husband the King was so busy planning his own downfall.
"Prasanna!
She turned to see her husband walking into her chamber but she remained quiet.
"You are at the end of your 6th full moon cycle and Amma said that we have to make arrangements for your seemantham. How about calling your parents and brother?
Prasanna remembered how she had chased them away for their own safety and shook her head.

Avantika sighed and let him go. Mahendra was about to take off when he grinned. When she least expected he carried and put her on Dheera and galloped away.
Devasena who saw this giggled. Amarendra had his jaws to the floor which made Devasena giggle more.
"Finding similarities?

Amarendra glared at her making her giggle more.
Naayaka also saw this and did not know what to say.
"Don't worry Naayaka! Your daughter can take care of herself
Naayaka's shocked gaze met Amarendra's smiling ones and Devasena's angry ones.

Devasena stood with her hands on her hips.

Naayaka through Sumantha sent this news to Rani Devasena who said she will take care of everything. But again he came to know about Kaalakeya attack during Dahana Pandaga. Devasena glared at Amarendra who came there with a smiling Naayaka.

Aslam understood what he meant and chided.

Saying he took Devasena to their cave where Aslam and Naayaka brought their food and milk. Devasena scrunched her face looking at the milk.

Aslam chuckled looking at his Ammi and Chachu. Amarendra eyed both Aslam and Naayaka who understood the cue and went out.
Amarendra sat on his usual place and looked up at Devasena who stood there glaring at the milk. Grinning, Amarendra caught her wrist and without giving her a chance to think, pulled her on to his lap. Devasena's eyes widened and she gasped as she landed on him.
"Amarendra! What are you doing?
She tried to get up when Amarendra's left hand went around her waist holding her in place.
"What do you think I am doing?
"You think you are still that 25 years old? Chi chi.. Siggu leka pothe sari!

His hand on her waist slowly caressed her as he leaned in and she closed her eyes. His breath fell on her hair creating havoc inside her. Without her realizing, she slowly drank the milk and Amarendra grinned at his victory.

Aslam went out in search of Sanga who was waiting with food for him. In these 3 days, Aslam grew close to Sanga and her husband who also treated him like Shivudu and they became his Chachi and Bade Chachu and he became their raja.
"Chachi! Where is Bade Chachu?
"He went to get some medicinal leaves that he saw in the woods earlier Raja
"Acha?
"Yeah.. he said they will heal the wounds soon
"Good! I cannot see Ammi and Chachu's wounds
He said as he ate. Sanga ruffled his hair.

At that moment he heard a squeal. He kept his plate and ran out with sanga on his tow.
Outside he saw his Brown stallion squealing.

He went to his horse. But his horse was looking at something getting excited. He turned to the direction and saw Mahendra and Dheera arriving. He frowned thinking why was Bahaadur excited on seeing this Thammudu when he saw the white mare!

Behind the white mare was another beautiful Gray mare.

And then it dawned on him.
"Iska Matlab
Behind them he saw Bade Chachu coming talking with someone. He just saw a glimpse of the brown eyes and the smiling lips and he yelled.

Loved this short bittersweet reunion between Amarendra & Baadshah! It was truly emotional.. they understood each other without words and had been with each other through thick and thin.. Even love happened at the same time for them! And Baadshah had held onto this life for just this moment..
Amarendra caressed Baadshah and Baadshah blinked his eyes that were shining. Amarendra's eyes were also welling up. He could see Baadshah panting with all the work he had done to come here. What an emotional moment!! The reunion of 2 friends! 😃😭
Baadshah snorted even in that condition. Amarendra chuckled as his tears flowed. Baadshah lifted his head up and nudged Amarendra who hugged Baadshah neck. Aww... that's so Baadshah like! Why did he have to go so fast? maybe a day or 2 with Amarendra would've been nice.. 😭
"What happened to all our dreams ra? Where is Veera? What a beautiful time it was!
"Just like us, Baadshah also got separated from his Mate Amarendra. Veera died 7 years ago. I couldn't even get over this from last update and here is another loss..😭
She said not able to stop her own tears. Amarendra bowed his head down. How much more pain has his family endured? Seriously?! How much more do they need to endure?! 😭😭
They introduced. Baadshah lifted his head and MAhendra bent down. He touched Baadshah's neck who nudged him once. He gets to meet Mahendra too!😊 and gives him a friend for life - Dheera ! A sweet moment - their bond will continue now in Mahendra-Dheera! 😃😭
Baadshah looked at the family and his colt and lifted himself up giving one last squeal before collapsing completely. Good bye to my fav horse jodi! 🤗I will miss you both!!
