Keeping or not keeping the tattoo is her personal decision. Though keeping it is weird. But what I fail to understand is why did she not hide it? Haven't seen the pics yet but if tattoo is visible. Its more weird that she did not hide it! Its possible to hide it with make up. Why show it still to the world?

My reading...I think she really fell in love with RK then and had assumed she would get married to him. At that time she seemed very content playing second fiddle to RK and didn't seem all that ambitious...RK 's break up must have jolted her (on hindsight in a good way).it was a very public and kind of humiliating break up. He cheated on her with another equally high profile actress and then went to interviews claiming that his new girlfriend was hotter more talented etc. I remember RK during that time, he behaved like a jerk. He was at that time considered this superstar in the making, was already getting raves for his talent (though in Sawariya he acted like a clown), and was majorly hyped about. DP was considered this loser ex, not talented, a fluke etc.

Few years hence, DP emerged as this superstar on her own hardwork. I think her turn came with cocktail (which RK himself confessed that he had advised her against). And since then there has been no looking back for her. Both personally and professionally she rose like a Phoenix from the Ashes. In both her movies with RK post break up she over shined him though he had the author backed role. Today she is the Superstar and is making her foray into the International platform. One would think that the break up must have been the best thing that happened to her, it motivated her to achieve greater heights.

I would say wear your tattoo proudly as a battle scar or a reminder. It's your choice.
