Sample this: The Lion King, just like Baahubali 2 is a tale of two brothers that takes place in The Pride Lands (Mahishmati). Unlike men, The Pride Lands is inhabited by innocent animals who are suffering under the rule of a bad king Scar (Bhallaladeva). Now, Scar is also the bad brother of the good king Mufasa (Amarendra Baahubali). After Mufasa dies, his little son Simba (Mahendra Baahubali) runs away and grows in remote lands, far from The Pride Lands. Just like Mahendra Baahubali, Simba grows unaware of his real destiny that he is the true king of The Pride Lands. Just like Devasena who is held captive by Bhallaladeva, Mufasa is cruel to his brother's wife Saribi (Devasena). Just like Mahendra Baahubali meets Avanthika in Baahubali 2 which eventually leads him to Mahishmati, Simba also meets his love interest Nala (Avanthika). The Lion King also has a character Rafiki (Kattappa) who guides Simba to achieve his true destiny.

Devsena: The heroine of the Saga of Bahubali.
The character of Devasena was inspired by two queens from Indian history- Mahadevi Dhruwaswamini and Mahadevi Devasena.
Dhruwaswamini[2] was a lady of strong character. She was raised like a warrior prince. Also, she was one of the most beautiful women of India during her time. She was engaged to Changragupta II, the younger son of Samudragupta. Ramagupta[3] was the elder son of Samudragupta. Chandragupta II was declared the heir of the throne, but after Samudragupta died, Ramagupta conspired to usurp the throne. Ramagupta then married Dhruwaswamini by treachery and force. Ramagupta was a coward. But he was ambitious about territorial expansion. He attacked the Sakas of Gujarat but his army was trapped making the situation worse. The Saka King Rudrasimha III ordered Ramgupta to hand over his wife to strike a peace-deal with the Sakas. This enraged Chandragupta II and Dhruwaswamini.
Chandragupta II took the disguise of Dhruwaswamini and went to the Saka camp and killed the Saka king. Dhruwaswamini, left the coward husband and married Chandragupta II. Chandragupta II killed Ramgupta and became the king of the Gupta dynasty, taking the name Chadragupta Vikramaditya. Later, Dhruwaswamini gave birth to Chandragupta II's heir Kumaragupta I.
Mahadevi Devasena was the wife of Skandagupta, the son of Kumaragupta. Devasena was also a warrior princess. There is a slight mention about an incident where she fought against the enemy armies when they attacked her palace.
Mahishmati, the kingdom referenced in the film was an ancient Indian city mentioned in several texts including Mahabharata and Digha Nikaya. It was the most important city in the southern part of the Avanti kingdom, and later served as the capital of the Anupa Kingdom. It was located in present-day Madhya Pradesh, on the banks of Narmada River, although its exact location is uncertain.

The character of Baahubali has uncanny similarities with the stories related to celebrated Mewar king Maharana Pratap. It seems that Baahubali has captured the Maharana Pratap's dynasty more than the original king himself.
Baahubali's birth in a cave and escape to safety after birth seems to have been picked up from an early story of the lineage that Maharana Pratap was to have belonged to. It dates back to an incident of around 525 AD, when one of the wives of the Rana of Mewar escaped after the fall of Balabhi. She took refuge with some locals and delivered a boy in a cave.
The boy got the name Goh or cave born. His descendents became Guhilot or Gahlot. Maharana Pratap is said to be from the same dynasty.
The story of Baahubali being raised by forest people or tribal community is also similar to that of Maharana Pratap. Historical annals have it that Rani Dheer Bai preferred her son from Rana Udai Singh to be the next king of Mewar.
Rani Dheer Bai is said to have got Maharana Pratap sent to live with villagers in the outskirts of Chittorgarh. Pratap grew in the company of ordinary folks away from the Royal comfort.
Rana Udai Singh later proclaimed Jagmahal - the son of Rani Dheer Bai - as his successor but the seniors in the Royal court were in favour of Pratap, who was coronated as the Maharana at a place away from the capital Chittorgarh.
