When Baahu said he had promised Devasena that he'd take care of her and protect her, Sivagami was hurt that he didnt respect her promise to Bhalla. It was just that. Maybe Baahu would have explained her calmly and make her understand. But Devasena's outburst had hurt her ego, her pride. Even Amarendra was shocked by Devasena's blast.
Bhalla played his cards well. He didnt want to interrupt them as Devasena herself started the fight. He was waiting for Baahu's 1 word that could create a split between mom-son. That word was "mistake". Thats when Bhalla let his father speak and add fuel to the fire. Bhalla had been silent most of the time, he showed himself as the sacrificial lamb in front of his mother, he played the victim card.

Kattapa didn't have a family of his own. And if I'm not wrong, he had grown up as a slave since his childhood, I don't think he had had a mother who was there for him, to care for him.
True, he had seen the love and deep affection Baahubali and Sivagami held for each other, but he was not with them always, so I guess he didn't understand it fully. That's why he tought Sivagami could kill Baahubali, and that would be even more painful to both mother and son. So he agreed to kill Baahu himself. If only he knew Sivagami could never kill him

I think Sivagami loved both of them equally...actually, I think she loved Bhalla a little more, because only love can blind someone to faults. She saw how Bhalla killed the Mahishmati people without care during the Kalakeya war. How can she not know his nature after that? She was purposely blind to his cold nature. And also I think Bhalla was just very sneaky and kept his feelings and jealousy hidden. And if you truly love someone, how can you kill them? I might get angry at my family, yell at them, not talk to them. But I can't imagine that if one of them hurts my ego I would go so far as to get them killed.

This is what I don't understand. At that time, killing a member of your family was normal. They didn't have that much sentiments. But, you would never kill your own son for that! And thats where Sivagami's character was ruined and failed for me. She was such a strong character, how could she go to the extent of killing Baahu without a proper investigation?! No matter what, this can be justified!

Kattappa and Sivagami deserve a lot of blame for Amarendra's death but at least the two of them were mother and father figures to him while he was growing up. They could've easily abandoned him as a baby because he was orphaned but Sivagami gave him equal status as her own son, and at the end they both did the right thing in trying to save Mahendra. So they're not complete villains. To me Bhallaladeva and Bijjaladev are the real monsters.

Yeah that was it.. for her - she couldn't take the fact that someone was telling her she was wrong in front of everyone.. and that too her Baahu! He was her biggest strength and I think that's what bothered her..

Another thing to consider here though - Sivagami was wrong to ask Baahu to capture Devasena and bring her as a prisoner.. This was a personal matter.. Sivagami had sent a proposal, Devasena rejected it (both were wrong in a way - Devasena involved Maahishmathi for something that Sivagami did).. But Sivagami made this an issue of Maahishmathi! How is Devasena a prisoner of Maahishmathi?The first time Sivagami mixed up her roles as a mother & Rajamatha..

Exactly, her guilty trip started when Bhalla told her not to compensate him with gifts because Baahu'd got the Kingdom. He said Sivagami can never be wrong. Baahu said she was wrong.
Since Bhalla didn't want any of the rich gifts she offered him, she was just glad enough that he asked for something and she was happy to offer it. To her, Devasena was just a Princess and none would refuse to marry her sons, so she confidently promised him to get him Devasena. As you correctly said, she failed to see that Devasena was also a human, a woman and had a right to chose her husband.
This was between Bhalla, Sivagami and Devasena. She shouldn't have involved Baahu in this even if he was in the same place as hers.
