She can cry, whine, and demand all she wants about how she is "equal" to working women but she is not. She is a childlike dependent on her husband and needs him to buy everything from her food to her clothing. A "nice" husband may not make her ask permission before withdrawing money from his bank account but she will always have to survive on his benevolence, moods, and whims. There is no true freedom when you don't stand on your own two feet and have zero identity of your own except as someone's wife and someone's mother.

She can be conveniently regressive if she wants. After all, sitting at home doing nothing while the servants work and hubby buys dresses that she can wear when she calls up paps to take her photos can be the lazy lifestyle dreams are made of. But if she wants to trash other women who actually have jobs and purposes other than Wife, people will definitely look down on her.

What is she teaching her daughter? That her purpose in life is to hit the ripe old marriageable age of 18 and then get arranged with someone double her age, become his baby maker, and cater to all his wishes for eternity? Or maybe she thinks there is pride in wasting an education and doing nothing while the servants work?

She is worse than the Kardashians. Calling up paps to take her pics and giving interviews based on being someone's wife and pretending to be a star without actually accomplishing anything.

You are going bonkers..yaar. This not Kareena Kapoor\deepika we talking about calling up photogs. And splashing pics ever other day. Get your facts straight OK? The photogs try and print her pics because SHE MAKES DAMN FINE COPY AND SHE LOOKS GREAT AND THAT SELLS THEIR PAPERS.

If she doesn't need to go scouting for a job or pursuing higher degrees to look for same it's her GOOD KARMA! STOP with the jealousy.

I don't think the lady needs to depend on her husband's moods etc..she is a crorepati in her own right. Neither she has to stay with a abusive husband and go out and earn ecause she has nowhere to go.
So you can stop worrying about her.

Liked this interview although she is a nobody to give an interview. And the flak she received, regressive or not, shows how we are progressing towards a less tolerant world where there's gotta be just one opinion, one ideal, one course to follow. Doesnt work that way. She has the liberty to say anything as it's a free country. People might disagree, but such reaction is awful !!

You are truly delusional. You think real celebrities with a fanbase have to call paps but a nobody has paps chasing her? 🤣

Nope, they all call the paps because India doesn't have a real pap culture at all. There is nobody chasing anyone. Photographers would not even know where to find them. All of those "outside gym" and "outside restaurant" photos are staged and preplanned. In case of Deepika and Kareena doing it, they are actresses and staying in the media is one of their requirements if they want to maintain their careers. Meera is a nobody who desperately wants to be a celebrity even though she hasn't actually achieved anything.

Another piece of knowledge for you. Times of India's entertainment section is completely bought and paid for by the people who want articles there. It's run by an organization called MediaNet and space is bought there by whoever wants it. Meera's interview is with them. She or rather Shahid bought the coverage and interview for her. Again, it makes sense when real celebrities do it because they have to promote their movies/brands but it's hilarious when Meera is doing it.

Both of them are insecure and have been trying like crazy to make Meera famous. It was Meera who attacked working women, calling their babies 'puppies' and making nasty references like feminazis. She can't cry when she gets her own medicine.

Maybe that is the way YOU think. Marry a star AND try to become famous. Like you don't already hv nosey people prying and asking Sonakshi and Sonam who they gonna marry and taking furtive shots.

Just answer one question..if ALL stars are calling paps (i alteady know some of them call the paps for PR) why are there reports of scuffles between paps and stars?

Your mind cannot comprehend one simple fact. Stars are stars because they are celebs and newspapers buy paps photos. Varna why poor.photographer will stand with their camera all day long to catch a pic? Those who call photogs like Deepika and others merely facilitate paps jobs for their own gain. Do you think kareena will call paps when she is bloated with post delivery weight? You can see how people are commenting. Those unflattering photos were printed without her collusion.

As to Times Of India..they hv to fill their papers and no one is gonna read an interview of someone who might be doing fabulous work but no.one knows them. The media frenzy over Shahids bride is a boon to journos wondering who to feature. After all look at the reaction to Shahid and Mira's wedding. Thereafter..if they can click the couples photo they will. Why? Because people.immediately click and look. They are the 'it' couple right now. Who else is there? You say insecure. Of what? Of you?

Don't generalise. Mira makes the effort to look nice because she knows paps are there. And she has a great dress sense. And why not? Who doesn't like to be appreciated and also make their new husband proud? Maybe with time she will become blase' and dress in tee and jammies.

You are sounding so bitter. Like some others. So she is young beautiful rich savvy and confident. So she married a star. So she is getting attention. It's her good luck. Let her be.

^As usual, Pakeezah, you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

India has no pap culture and they do not stand around all day waiting for celebrities to take pics. Celeb PR call them and tip them on exactly what place and what time to go take the pics. There's a reason why some people like Kareena/Deepika and now Meera get their pics taken outside restaurants/gym all the time and some like Aishwarya never do. Because the publicity hungry ones arrange it to get their pics taken and pretend like they are some HW celebs withs paps chasing them trying to get their pics.

Same as buying MediaNet coverage which Shahid/Meera also did to try her clean up her nasty and insulting comments about women. Both are trying desperately to turn her into a celebrity to match up to his exes and to get lucrative ads together. TOI doesn't care who reads or doesn't read the paper because the entertainment section is all paid for. It is advertising and they make a profit from it. India has a huge paid news problem.

Just because her PR is backfiring doesn't mean it wasn't arranged by her. Nobody can anticipate the reactions. This idiot thought she was going to be cheered on. Having no real world experience is always going to make it hard for her to understand consequences.

Btw, you insisting over and over about her "beauty" is bizarre because she looks like every average woman who walks the streets of Mumbai and Delhi, not to mention looking 10 years older than her age. Then again, I understand having to insist so hard about her beauty because what accomplishment does she have at all? Nothing. So in your world she has to "make her husband proud" by calling up paps, dressing up in clothes he pays for, and trying to get praise for being "so beautiful" from his fangirls.

@pakeezah

Going out and working after marriage is an OPTION. Who ARE YOU to dictate norms and say what a woman should and shouldn't do.

No it is not an option for many. It is a necessity either due to financial status, single parenting, or career aspirations.

If Mira chose to hv a baby first..I mean why are you getting into a flap about it? Does it affect YOU? AS for luxuries if either partner can afford the luxury of having one person stay home and be a hands on parent while the other brings in money...that great, isn't it?

Actually, Mira is the one tried to explain why she had a baby and all that. Nobody cared.

Most little ones would LOVE their own parents being there at all times instead of an ayah or hired help. Why you acting so superior.? How are you using YOUR grey cells by passing judgement.on others rights?

The parents will like to choose how to bring up their babies. Most parents would want their babies to be well fed, go to good schools and get a lifestyle beyond what they had as kids. And for this people work because not everybody is born rich.
Mira is the one who acted superior when she passed condescending remarks on working mothers and equating their babies to puppies. But in her defense, the poor bimbo might have thought working means an option that people can choose.

Plenty Bollywood women stayed home after their babies were born Sonali..Kajol..Ash. And.by no.means are they sitting at home PRETENDING to work while servants do it. You.mean to say the MANAGER at any business sits on his arse and PRETENDS to work while actually his subs do the actual work? If so..USE those grey cells you talk about.

All the actresses that were mentioned WORKED and then took a break for their babies since they can. It is their choice. How can you compare a Mira, who never worked on her life, with such accomplished women?
Oh btw do you think this Mira doesn't have nannies or helpers. Do you think she is scrubbing floors, cooking, cleaning, AND taking care of the baby like all the other working mothers or stay at home mothers??
She is one first class bimbo and in every interview she comes across as more snooty and more snobbish and completely detached from the real world.
She chose to get married and have kids early...good for her. She should Just shut up and don't pass comments on other mothers and how they chose to parent.

If Mira was nobody, why are YOU and others even responding??

Skip the thread. A nobody would hardly get so many responses. That too impassioned ones. The truth is she has become extremely popular in her own right because of her beauty and young age and distinct personality.

Varna john Abraham ..Vivek Oberoi, Neil nitin mukesh have also married. Their wives don't elicit so much interest and curiosity?

What you call regressive is completely natural to me, pls stop shoving your opinions down others throats. Yes. STOP WITH THE NAZI FEMINISM. We don't feel threatened by the male species. And specially Mira ain't taking no bill shit from no man.

@bold - And the takeaway from that is that it is possible to stay away from the limelight if you wish to. And I think to some extent Mira does want to keep away, but both she and Shahid are controlling and planning to what extent .. The "interest" in Mira , all those random snaps and all these interviews are not happening out of thin air. It is all arranged.

When you are setting yourself up as a "public personality", then your opinions are up for criticism or praise. And that's what happened with her last time. They were trying to package her as someone with "traditional feminist" values in the hopes that they will be received well because of all the flak the "new-age aggressive feminism" is receiving. They wanted everyone who were making snide comments about her choice to marry young and have a baby and be a stay-at-home mom to see her in a "respectful" and "intelligent" light. But it backfired. This interview is nothing but damage-control, and an attempt to bring their PR exercise for her back on track. On topic, this was a good interview.
