But it's not easy to look after twins / triplets and I feel there should be an age gap b/w children so a boy first then 2 years and a girl another two years and a son.. that should be fine. 😳 Want to DS attend events / ocassions with their kids...daughter carried by her father and son clinging on to his mother's saree pallu

No Priya. Its easier to look after twins than kids with 1 or 2 years age gap IMO
My sis in law had twins, it was easy. My other sis in law eldest is 1 and a half and the other 10 days old. Sooo tough man! 😳

What irony, and yet how beautifully they portrayed it without decreasing Amarendra's importance or masculinity.

Devasena's character is so intriguing because even when she's strong and fighting, she's still feminine. She embraced both her feminine and warrior side without compromising on either, in a way that Avantika wasn't able to. This isn't Avantika's fault, as her upbringing and role in the army was different, but it's not easy to write a female character like Devasena, in a way everyone would be able to relate to.😳

Devasena had the gentility and affectionate nature of Sita, and the fierceness of Draupadi. She was the perfect amalgamation of a strong, independent yet loving woman.

Well said! And only Anushka could bring this character alive. She was so graceful yet so fierce 👏

She has so much more than what some Bollywood 'queens' think they have and show off their arrogance when really there is not much there

Devasena is one of a kind.

Problem with Bollywood heroines is that in the attempt to show them as strong characters, they're written as arrogant snobs or downright tomboys. I'm not saying tomboys are wrong or anything, but a woman can be strong and independent without being a tomboy too, and too many female leads in the North come off as Feminazis.

The South is far from perfect though. In fact, it's generally the opposite. Most of the female leads in the South are meek doormats, who play no other purpose in the storyline than to romance the hero. In all other parts of the story, they're totally useless and stand dumbly in the background while the hero does all the talking and fighting.

Either North or South, it's rare to see a female character who is truly unique, special and has an active role in the story.

Devasena is one of the only female leads who we can truly say is as important as the hero.

I think D had good chemistry with almost all the actresses he acted with. Be it Trisha, Shriya, Kajal, Asin, Ileana etc. Even Tamannah though I dislike her. Though ofcourse his best is with his bangaaram. Before S it was Kajal for me and Trisha and him were hot in that mellaga song too. But then BB happened and I went mad and started going crazy for them, rewatched their older movies and then finally third eye opened and I finally saw why people were crazy for them years ago. That said, he did share very good chemistry with Kajal & Trisha. I would definitely watch the film if D makes a film with either. But ofcourse it will be double bonus if it's with his bangaaram.

@bold: so true. I recently saw a random review on Twitter about Devasena. The person said he saw Lakshmi, Durga, and Kali in Anushka's portrayal of the character. I love that observation. Truly a testament to both the character and S.

Anushka, Trisha, Shriya, and to an extent Kajal all look well with Prabhas because they are in the same age group, so it naturally clicks, whereas Tamannah is a bit younger and her face too looks a bit more western than Indian at times. I felt she was a bit unsuitable for a historical role like Avantika, as she doesn't have that "classic beauty". She's more of a modern beauty. I don't think Tamannah looked bad with Prabhas. They were fine, but other actresses would've looked better with him. I personally would have loved to see Kajal as Avantika, or even Trisha. After seeing Kajal in Magadheera, we know she could pull off a fantasy/historical role, and Trisha's traditional beauty too would be perfect for the role.

@ramkijanaki how beautifully u wrote! Couldn't agree more. Devasena was an equal to Amarendra in each and every sense. She didn't have to let go of what she is to feel more good about herself and he loved her for who she is and not what she is. I too loved how Devasena stood by her decision to marry Amarendra despite knowing she is going against the lady she just asked for forgiveness and despite that fact that she is speaking out in front of an entire kingdom or infact a bigger kingdom than hers. The best part is how Amarendra also didn't do any oh-i-want-sacrifice-my-love-for-my-mother-or-brother, and still of on dharma ground to fight for is his. I can go on and on about their love story but never feel bored or annoyed.
