I completely agree with some of the criticism, for me the appeal is grandiose, epic saga movies. If you like Lord of the Rings , Star wars type saga movies and looked for an Indian version this is more than acceptable. It does have the Southie type masala thrown in though and if that annoys you, hard to like.

If you do not connect with the story and you do not know any of the actors, hard to find a craze or even want to pay. But even actors like Sathyaraj sir (Kattappa) and Nasser (Balladeva's dad) are veterans in the South and people who have grown up watching them will have more of a connection to them not to say anything of the lead actors who have their own fan bases. It is hard for a BW audience to connect to a South movie and vice versa and Bahubali is in essence a South movie dubbed in Hindi.

It's a Telugu fantasy movie about a fly. It went to many film festivals, not sure about awards. Think there is a tamil version. It was directed by the Babhubali director SSR.

bold-- What are you even talking about? BW audience are the most vella people in the world who watch anything and everything. Bahubali dubbed was loved by BW audience and it connected with them in a big way. That is a fact confirmed by its hindi Box office numbers. It had a terrific word of mouth and is a huge hit on televison as well. I mean what the hell. Do you even know the only movies (i mean majority) that are shown on Hindi movie channels since last 10 years or so are the dubbed south movies and that too on repeat? You know why? Because the are loved by the same hindi BW audience and they get blockbuster TRP ratings on tv.

Yeah the vice versa may be correct that majority south indians hate north indians and BW which is unfortunate 😭
