If iam not wrong Rehnuma, srk movie is clashing with akki's toilet ek prem katha..and in that clash rehnuma will lost the battle with toilet & die ..thats what i got...😆

For me JTHJ is one of the very few films where I don't have as much of a problem with the screenplay, but it's the crux of the story that makes it unpleasant to watch. Meera's vow to "god" was just incomprehensible - even for a film.

The screenplay itself (the way the story unfolds, albeit a bad one) was not an issue for me.

Secondly, JTHJ failed because Katrina's performance left quite a bit more to be desired for. Although she was nowhere near as bad as she's made out to be, it just didn't' work on the whole.

Thirdly, the chemistry between SRK-Kat was not happening for me. Katrina looked so self-conscious in so many scenes. I feel like she was overwhelmed to be working with Yash-SRK and following in the footsteps of Madhuri-Juhi-Preity etc.

Lastly, I didn't like SRK's "characteristics" in the first half. They tried to make the character very endearing, but it was over the top and not subtle as it should have been. Typically we see that when a character completely changes or "matures" in the second half. They make both aspects extra-contrasting and it comes across amateurish.

JTHJ;s plus points were: the STUNNING cinematography. Not just the locations, but the way the camera moved, the angles, the close-ups, the zoom ins were all beautifully executed. Most people might not notice this, but they do make a huge difference in contributing to the enjoyment of a viewer. The music was really good. and of course Anushka was adorable as Akira. That scene when tears roll down her face and she says "yeh kahaan se aa jaate hair yaar" 😭👏

that is true

i feel she was much at ease in movies like NY..MBKD which resulted in better performance..coz she knew she is working with stars if not worse then at par with her in acting at least..baring Irfan khan of course but he wasn't in the lead..so yeah

here the pressure was massive..Yash Raj directing you and your co-star being SRK..she appeared self conscious through out plus the disagreement and lack of relatability with her own character made it even worse..

very few newer actresses have let go that pressure and stood there own with SRK as a co-star and deepika in CE is one of those rare ones..she was at par..in fact even better in some scenes..which is why it is all the more mind f**king to realize how she was not considered..or may be big stars like that coz it feeds their ego well..which is why we never see the likes of VB..kangana or now Deepika being paired with them..food for thought..

Sometimes I completely disagree with you! And sometimes the exact opposite! 😭😆😛

Right now it's the latter!! Deepika did outshine SRK in CE 😲

Anushka also matches up to him.

I do feel like there is an element of how well SRK works with his female co-stars - he not only allows them to shine, he encourages that. He brings out the best in them. The last actor to do that was Anil Kapoor. He deserves a little credit at least for the incredible successes of Sridevi and Madhuri. 👏

I would love to see Tabu or Vidya with SRK! Not excited about JTHJ trio again

ALR's films usually have better stories/ screenplays, more relatable and natural.

Also SRK Kat didnt have any chemistry in their multiple love scenes in JTHJ, they looked horrible together.
SRK and Anu always look great together from their very 1st movie

I dont know why people are comparing it with JTHJ, because writer/director is not the same so it wont be the same WTH story as JTHJ 😆

@Bold Absolutely not. Adi is no KJO. DDLJ would not be the film it is without the basic story/script/screenplay of Adi. It was no fluke too. RNBDJ was one of the few scripts that was asked for and is kept in a repository of film scripts in HW. JTHJ was not a bad script, execution was bad and one main reason was casting. You cannot compare Befikire as it is an experimental story which did not translate well to an Indian audience.

@Red The simple reason that JTHJ was seriously terrible. Kat and SRK looked and acted horrible together. With any other actress it would not have been this terrible, but to be fair to Kat she does work with Hrithik and Salman. It is just not her fault the pairing with SRK did not work.

@Blue Casting matters. Absolutely matters. Without SRK and Kajol KKHH would be ridiculous and not a classic with gems like KJO's infamous "shaadi ek baar hota hain" nonsense and immediately falling in love seeing her in a saree after a few years. Jodha Akbar would be as terrible as BajiRao between Ranveer and Deepika was were it not for the chemistry between Hrithik and Ash. There is a reason Salman as Prem works with Sooraj Bharjatya and everyone else was rather terrible (yes, including Vivah for me). For a story to work writer/director alone does not matter. Casting the right person absolutely matters and in intense love stories, the pairing matters.

After working with Mr Perfectionist and surviving, I think Kat will do more than fine job. Compared to Aamir, SRK is peach. Beside he is known to be pleasant co-star. 😛 😆
