No point stating an opinion in Alia infested forum..one will only get mocked.Anyway here goes.😆

DP cant do bubbly moofat characters which Alia played in every movie of hers barring Udta Punjab.Then Alia cant in million years pull off a Piku,Naina,Leela or Mastani.She will howl not bowl if SLB chose to work with her😛
I am sure DP with her hardwork and perseverance would have pulled off Udta Punjab thought accent would be a big barrier.But again Alia's Bihari diction was not authentic by any means.Alia might be more natural and spontaneous but her screen presence is not sparkling.I had to concentrate 4-5 times to spot her in Break up song,eyes kept going to Anu while an old avg looking Kajol was all I saw in Disco song for 15 secs while dancing with 2 handsome hunks.DP's screen presence is amazing.There were many times in OSO I was only looking at her in scenes with SRK.Even during her wooden phase her screen presence was captivating.😃

Alia for sure. She is natural, effortless n has the ability to add nuances to a scene.
While Deepika has immense screen presence but her acting seems rehearsed esp with tht bland dialogue delivery.

both are brilliant and are top 2 actresses currently (Ormax Mar'17)

how do I say..

there are some.roles of alia which dp cannot do and there are many of dp's which alia cannot

i feel alia brought magic to roles like hers in Highway..UP..i really don"t know if dp would have done those as well

and dp was sheer brilliance in roles like piku..tamasha..CE..total natural and subtle..which i cannot see any one else nailing the way she did..

both transformed from bad actors to good ones..

Personal preference Alia. Find her more natural, she connects more and brings a certain earthiness and relatable aspect to her characters.

Like Deepika more than Alia

Alia is a good actress but somehow I find her face rather annoying.

People are saying Aloo is doing such great roles already whereas DP was doing crappy movies in similar phase of her career

How do people forget that industry kid Alia is getting tailormade roles, challenging roles to prove her talent which an outsider like DP didnt get at that time?

I'll add that this isn't only a question of nepotism but also that at the time Deepika was launched, Bwood wasn't about performance oriented roles hence the rise of Katrina.
