For some reason, I am unable to insert a quote in this post.

i have heard the name but can u tell me the value of this award Smile i guess besides all these indian awards ...sonu's biggest achievement as an artist is his entry in the statue of madam Tussaud normally film stars get this chance he would be the first singer from bollywood i guess ...and his entry in oscars list for his music compositions in film JAL 2013

Yeah, I heard that he made it to the shortlist and he will undoubtedly win sooner or later, because he is highly respected in the field.

The Padma honours are very prestigious and are given for extraordinary achievement to civilians in various fields, like sports, literature, arts, etc.
It is like the honours system in the UK given by the Queen.

The highest honour that can be given to a civilian is the Bharat Ratna. Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar have one.
The second highest honour is the Padma Vibhushan for "exceptional and distinguished service".
The third highest honour is the Padma Bhushan for "distinguished service of a high order".
The fourth highest honour is the Padma Shri, awarded for "distinguished service".

It is very difficult for artists to get Padma Bhushan and above.

National Awards recognise achievement in a particular year, whereas the Padma Honours and Bharat Ratna recognise achievement over the entire career of an individual.

Nah...just understand a few words and get the context. Some need subtitles like Dangal. Still don't understand half the dialog. 😆

The National Awards for 2017 will be announced in a month or so. Any guesses on who will win for playback this year?
Probably nobody from Bollywood.

Tumi jaakey bhalobasho ...sung by Iman Chakrabarty, from the Bengali film Praktan.

I love that song, lyrics are great

^^That's a beautiful, soothing melody. I like the background singer's voice, too.
What is the song about/what do the lyrics mean?

The song is abt the heartbreaking end of a relationship, how things go south between former lovers/ spouses and the singer in the song is telling her lover to make a home with someone else.

Here is a literal translation of the male version of the song but TBH it doesnt do justice to the poignant Bengali lyrics.
Much of the ethos is lost in translation but u will get the gist of it
