This is what happens when record companies act like mafia instead of business houses.

I was wondering why new songs are utterly forgettable last night, too. I think it's partly because the lyrics are meaningless, and most singers' voices are heavily autotuned. Most songs don't sound natural but too 'manufactured'.

That pleasant 'feel' one gets from songs is also missing.. lacks an earthiness due to autotune and even the music, like the instruments(or digital something or computer?) used.

because Sonu Nigam is not singing them 😆 his melodious voice hide the deficiency in songs ...listen this sonu singing tera pyar pyar pyar huka baar and old songs in one go ... rapid changes in pitch to switch different songs

and the other reason is today they make song just for youtube hits and not for soul ...plus today the trend of recording is that they make 20 different singers sing one song and then choose the best out of them

True. Yeah, the sounds are generated digitally, rather than using guitars, sitars, tablas, etc.

Two decades ago my uncle was saying the same thing, today's music has no soul, music back in the days used to be great.
I think it's human nature to feel nostalgic over past things. Having said that I also don't enjoy current music much. I love a song for two days and then I move on. I don't think it has anything to do with words. There are plenty of songs with beautiful lyrics. I do have to say I don't care for any of the current singers. There are a few I like.
