I lead my department and yet even when I talk to the board which is 80% men, very often the men including folks like the Dean of Medicine will look at my subordinate - who is a man- for validation. I am better educated, more experienced, at a senior position, for God's sake I am his boss yet apparently they need him to validate what I am saying only because he has a piece of flesh between his legs. This is why we women have to be more aggressive, push harder and talk louder to be heard to be respected. And I have found that when a woman is more aggressive she is termed a Feminazi.

However I don't expect someone like Mira to understand this. For two reasons: one she is married to a very rich man so the people around her are at least going to pretend to listen to her like her opinion matters and two she really has not been out in the actual world to understand what struggles most women go through

Very well said Frosty !! 👍🏼 Women definitely have to work harder (struggle/fight) and face all sort of hidden biases.

Here she goes again . It's amazing the damage one interview can do...

Maybe feminist have to be aggressive in their approach to make up for the docile types like you, who are easy to overlook the severity of gender inequality, and the discrimination women have to face out in the real world. They have to be vocal in their fight, by sweeping it under the rug there will be no progress made. If you're misinformed on the movement or lack the life experiences to fully comprehend the purpose of it, it's probably best to be quiet. By going on a rant about feminism and giving validity to a dismissive word like "Feminazi", on a celebratory day meant to uplift women, you're really not helping at all. God, what a grade A idiot.

None one can hurt feminism, or bring meaning to FEMINAZI unless there's reason for it. Mira said its her choice to get married, have a baby and raise it till baby gets older. She's being a FEMINIST as opposed to Feminazi. FEMINAZI is those saying how dare a woman who never worked voice her opinion on working women. They're somehow more entitled to hv an opinion and voice it than a house mum. She never said its wrong to leave the kid and go to work. she never said all women hv a choice. She never said those who hv a choice and go to work after days old baby are wrong. She said she wouldn't want to. That's it.

Did you miss the part where she likened babies to puppies or are you choosing to ignore that part of her statement?

Did she say babies of working women who leave their kids are puppies?did she? One cannot take maternity leave saying you want to look after puppy, right? So why not take it in that light.
Does Mira look like a person who would equate a baby with a puppy? If anything she looks Like she would give equal respect to both seeing as they're both living beings. Tiny helpless wonderful beings. If Im not mistaken both she and Shahid are vegetarians isn't it, he is a member of PETA.

Working women , working new moms don't even have to explain themselves. It's accepted. Applauded. Appreciated. It's a fact life. What is the need to defend it?

How conveniently you leave out the 'puppy' remark, which is what started the uproar in the first place. No one started shaming her for her choice to be a stay at home mom out of the blue, it was a counter response to the condescending judgments she passed on working women. For some it's not merely a choice but a basic necessity for survival. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon then married off into a rich family to enjoy a worry-free life of luxury. If Mira is eyeing the spotlight, it's time she starts speaking responsibly because her statements are offending a lot of people.

I explained puppy remark.

No way do I see MIRA as anti feminist or even doormat. She seems very much her own person.

Like I said like a new mum going to work isnt even an issue now. It's a way of life now. On the contrary I read about moves to make it compulsory for companies to give new mums at least three months off or six (paid leave)i forget which, even in america..,AND a husband be able to apply for the same leave.

Obviously there are enough people petitioning for the same and I think it's all good. Good for new parents, good for newborn.

"I wouldn't want to spend one hour a day with my child and rush off to work. Why did I have her? She is not a puppy, you know. I want to be there for her as a mother, seeing her grow up has, cannot be quantified."

She literally said why did I have her, she is not a puppy u know? Implying that if she cannot stay home and take care of her whats the point in having this child. Maybe she didnt mean it to come out like that, but that is what she said in this context. what does taking maternity leave and puppies have to do with anything? She's talking about the fact that some women "rush off to work" after spending 1 hour with their child. She is saying she didnt have her child only to rush off to work, because children are not puppies. Your explanation of what she was may have been trying to say doesn't make sense in the context she said it.

I personally respect a women that work and women who stay home after a baby, everyone has their own opinions, choices, and situations that may require one or the other. I would have respected had she left it at her statement that that was her choice. Even the statement above minus the puppy part had she said that, that would have settled well with me as well. But the minute she said, she is not a puppy you know, that is where I lose respect for her. In trying to justify her choices (which she does not need to do in the first place), she insults those who do not have the luxury of staying at home and watching their child.

LOL and being vegetarian has 0 to do with this argument at all. I don't even know why you brought that up.

She said she could be out and about but she chose to stay at home, I wish she chooses to stay at home more often. Idiot.
