But it's a real shame if these girls are getting medical degrees and not practicing. What nonsense! They should be ashamed of themselves.

Instead of being useful to the world with technical skills that only a few percent of the population has, they are sitting at home doing nothing! And yes, homemaking can be hard work but most middle-class housewives in India don't do anything. They have cooks and maids to do all the actual work. The kids too are in school most of the day. They just sit and gossip and watch serials. 🤢

Wasting an education is a real shame IMO. If you want an easy life doing nothing, why waste seats that other people who actually want to be useful can take?

(You can make whatever choices you want in life but some choices are better than others. 😆 )

LOL. And the fact is that girls are smarter than guys and we guys hate that. All the girls in my class used to cry before viva that they would fail and yet get the top positions. 😆 The ratio of girls in med schools is more than guys.

My (girl) friends used to do all my practical work for me and i used to cheat off them in exams. Thats why i suck cuz i had everything handed to me. And after all that hard work and tears they decided not to practice. Its a shame.

If you have a degree people expect you to do a job otherwise you have wasted your time, energy and money they say
But education shapes a person's personality
Being a homemaker is a tough, thankless job. Just because you dont earn, and dont see "salary credited to your account" every month doesnt mean you've worked any less harder than the people who step out of their homes and work.
Who knows maybe your degree might come in handy at home
If you've a degree in teaching but dont teach in schools, you could help your child at home or other kids who require help

Not everyone is ambitious and wishes to step out of the house to work. Some have a nurturing personality and prefer staying at home where their heart is full 😊

Maybe it's your perception that is wrong and not people. The assumption that education shapes a person's personality is such a pigeon-holed idea & has no factual basis.😆 Not the kind of education that is offered in most institutes anyway, that only encourages people to regurgitate a bunch of stuff. Pray tell, how education actually has any effect on a person's personality? Not unless you are studying courses like philosophy or psychology, I very much doubt it.

I have not dissed homemakers anywhere in my reply. So if you have assumed that, it is your problem, not mine. Perhaps it's that pigeonholed perception of yours working overtime again. I don't agree that a degree can come handy at home cuz I think education till leaving certificate/grade 12 is more than sufficient. And not everyone pursues a teaching degree.

It is indeed wasteful to me to work hard and pursue a degree and then not work after that, it is a waste not just for the person, but on the government & institutes that back these pools of people who don't bother working after they acquire their degree. IF the degree actually helps them in some way with leading their lives afterwards, then that is an exception. But I have hardly ever seen cases like that in real life.

And I think it is absolutely fine to remain 'uneducated' and get married, i.e. not have plans of working after marriage. If that is not clear in my reply, then I reiterate it again. There is nothing wrong with this and it depends upon the individual. But it seems that such women will not be 'good enough' for arranged marriage prospects and hence they are pressurised by society to acquire a degree. Either this, or they are pressurised into marriage before they could complete their degree or get a job.

What should always be the deciding factor is the woman's choice. But that hardly ever seems to factor into any of this.

Arrey, why bother to study beyond grade three then? You can read and write, what need for more?
Fact is, education is always handy. It's nice to learn more. You never know in whose company you will be, at a party, at a parent teacher meeting, on holiday.

And if you ever change yr mind and decide to get a job, it opens up your choices.

Anyway, housewives hv to deal with lots of written work these days..be it paying a bill or filling out an insurance policy' paying tax. Education to some degree helps understand faster.

I do not give a damn whether you dream to be homemaker or a career woman. I just want women to be less judgemental of other woman's choice to live her life. Everyone's situation is different.

PS: One of my friend wants to be a homemaker, but most of the guys wants a working wife. Poor thing has look for a job to get married. I have suggested her not to get married to guys who are incapable of buying you even a toothbrush.
