Is it meant to be some token degree to show-off to people? So people don't undermine your intellectual ability or is it just to avoid 'embarrassing' future husband? 🤔

Please don't mind me. I guess I just don't understand the point of wasting time/energy/money on getting a degree when you are not going to use it to your advantage & make a career out of it.

For me, knowledge is not the same as wisdom anyway so having n of degrees doesn't actually make a person seem more intelligent in my eyes.

And thats exactly whats wrong with most people nowadays
If you have a degree people expect you to do a job otherwise you have wasted your time, energy and money they say
But education shapes a person's personality
Being a homemaker is a tough, thankless job. Just because you dont earn, and dont see "salary credited to your account" every month doesnt mean you've worked any less harder than the people who step out of their homes and work.
Who knows maybe your degree might come in handy at home
If you've a degree in teaching but dont teach in schools, you could help your child at home or other kids who require help

Not everyone is ambitious and wishes to step out of the house to work. Some have a nurturing personality and prefer staying at home where their heart is full 😊

Exactly. It just feels better to have a degree, but you don't have to do something with it. So many people obtain certain degrees, but end up working in another field. I have a friend who studied law like me, but works in real estate now. And my niece studied psychology, but works as a yoga instructor. So did those kind of people also waste their education?

Life is short, everyone should do whatever makes them happy. But this feminism thing is annoying. They look down on women that prefer staying at home.

I am sorry, Education is compulsory for everyone and all women, even if they want to be house wives, need to have good degree and education.
I can write a long essay, but to make it easy for you - You have to help your kids with their complex homework !! So mummy needs to study well !!

It is actually smart getting a degree because it is not certain a person will always be a housewife. I think most keep it as a back up plan if they ever need a job in the future, or they need interaction with society, making friends and people go to learning institutes or work to do this.

If people don't work or study and lack interacting with the general public you can become quite reclusive and depressed.

Some more reasons.

1) Children grow up.

When they are in colleges and independent it can be lonely. So people use the degrees they have to re enter the work force.

2) Something may happen to a family where they need to live on more than one income.

3) Person may get divorced or their partner dies and they become a single parent. Unless they are relyng on others they need to be the bread winner.

Degrees are not just the gateway to a job...they educate you n broaden your perspective, help you improve your knowledge n increase your horizon...there is absolutely nothing wrong in having a degree n not working...it is one's choice after all...the problem of s when one starts spewing illbegotten words, something your degree was not able to teach you

most probably because they worry who will marry a mere 12th pass...or may be,just may be...and this perhaps seems like a bizarre idea...but I will say it anyway...perhaps they LIKE studying...and it is a good back up plan, right? like what if your husband turns out to be douche bag but you can't leave him because you aren't too sure of your financial independence? Education increases chances of financial independence, right?

Well .. the thing is if you aren't going to use your degree for some actual usage in life then it is better to let someone else, who might actually really need a job, get that one college seat that you are taking up for no practical reason.
Anyway, Meera might have given a good interview but that one statement has landed her in soup. I doubt she would care, she seemed smart and sorted in terms of social skills .. so she would know how to get out of the situation but I am just thinking - it's not like Shahid is such a huge star, then why is his wife even getting so much importance? And now that she has created this issue, I hope she stays away from media and doesn't bothers to give more high funda interviews because we already get enough patronizing shit in this country, don't need more socialites to share their elite gyaan for no rhyme or reason. They've not achieved anything on their own but always have so many advises for everyone else. Shut up already!
