BREAKING All India and overseas distribution rights of Shah Rukh Khan - Anushka Sharma starrer sold for Rs. 100+ crores

Each passing year we witness films being made and released on an even bigger scale, with big budgets and even bigger release plans, the distribution of films has become a field with massive investments. Well, after the recent release garnering whopping sums for their distribution rights be it in the domestic market or overseas, we hear that the worldwide distribution rights of Shah Rukh Khan's next has fetched an even higher amount.

If what we hear is true then, Narendra Hirawat of NH Studioz has apparently acquired the domestic and overseas distribution rights of the Shah Rukh Khan - Anushka Sharma starrer tentatively titled The Ring for a staggering Rs. 100+ crores. Industry insiders claim that the deal is valued at approx. 125 crores. Confirming the same while refraining to comment on the amount he shelled out for the distribution rights of the film Hirawat says, "Yes I have acquired the All India and overseas distribution rights of The Ring, but I will not comment on the cost of the same."

Interestingly, back in 2015 we had reported that the worldwide distribution rights of Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale were sold for Rs. 170 crores (Domestic Rs. 130 cr + Overseas Rs. 40 cr). However, unlike in the case of Dilwale, where the domestic rights of the film were sold to individual distributors with a similar deal being inked for the overseas rights, the worldwide distribution rights of The Ring have been acquired by one single distributor.

Sold at 125 cr.
That means the movie has to make 410 cr. worldwide (Gross) Or 290 cr. worldwide (Nett.) to get hit tag.

Worldwide doesn't have nett, it is always gross? isn't it? Rehnuma will need 185 cr nett to get hit tag i think.

That means the film will flop as usual for SRK films in India and money has to be made from overseas.

It is wise to buy worldwide rights..as most of the money will be earned from overseas.

You can deduct 30% of Gross to get Nett.

A movie needs to make 15% profit to be considered as hit. that means distributors (who paid 125 cr for it) have to make 144cr.
That means the movie has to make 144X2= 288 cr from ticket sell worldwide. Yeh.. nett hisaab hai. Ab gross aap hissab kar lo adding 30% tax. with 288 cr.

25 crore from satellite rights for an SRK movie, aur woh bhi music rights ke saath 🤣 Paglaaye gaye ho ka? 4 flop ke baad bhi ADHM got 30 cr from satellite rights only.

Satellite right is not a penny less than 40cr.

30% tax is not applicable all over india, it varies from state to state.

125 selling price means, 85 cr india, 40 cr overseas.
