Right here shows how accurate these articles are.😆
Interviews during the Launch of BBC Feel Alive Channel. Kareena's the brand ambassador.

Kareena Kapoor Khan: Why would I call my son Little John? My son's name is Taimur

Your pregnancy, delivery and baby have got a lot of attention. Did you expect so much of it?

Not really. I feel as if I am the first Indian girl to ever get pregnant, wear maternity clothes and appear in public while being pregnant. Many other working women do the same, so I don't know why it is such a big deal. I read stuff like how come she is doing this? When is she doing that?'

Is the attention difficult to handle?

I have been an actor for 17 years and I know that one should let certain things go. I am happy that people considered it inspiring. It's fine, and I have nothing to shy away from or hide. Of course, everyone wants to have a perfect figure, but I feel it's fine to start working two months after my delivery and look glamorous. That's the way I love it. I am enjoying every phase and every moment of it.

Has motherhood changed you?

It's an extremely personal journey. It's a relationship that one develops over time, organically. I am still learning the ropes. In fact, Saif says my attention has completely shifted [to Taimur], and keeps complaining about it. I told him maybe [that will be the case] for a while (laughs). Now, I don't like leaving home too much.

It was reported that you call your son Little John.

No. I want to clarify that. How can anyone think that? Why would I call my son Little John? My son's name is Taimur. It is the most beautiful name, and he is the most beautiful and gorgeous man (smiles). And, no, I don't call him Little John. Please address him as Taimur Ali Khan.

Film-maker Vishal Bhardwaj recently mentioned that he wants to work with you again, as he is a big fan of yours.

Saif and I have worked with Vishal in Omkara (2006), which is one of Vishal's greatest films. I would love to work with him, and it will be as great a role as the one I played in that film. I am a huge fan of him and his work. I hope we work together soon.

Apparently, you and Saif recently hosted Kangana Ranaut at your place. Have you become good friends with her?

Friend' is a term that is used so loosely these days. You are friends with people you've known for years. In the industry, you meet people, socialise and have fun. Having said that, of course, I have met Kangana, and she is a solid person. She is someone I can really relate to. She speaks her mind and heart. I always love people like that.

When will you start shooting for Veere Di Wedding?

In May. I am looking forward to that.

How does it feel to make a television debut?

It's not [a debut] in that sense. I am the Feel Alive' ambassador and associated with a channel, which is a first for me. But surely, this is my first tryst with a television channel. We shot for the campaign when I was almost four months pregnant, and I told them that. It's unusual, as brands shy away from celebrities when they are expecting. However, these guys are progressive in their thoughts and went ahead with it. I couldn't believe it when I received this offer, and even Saif wanted to be a part of it (laughs).

Would you be keen to judge a reality show on TV?

I have never made any plans in my career vis--vis what I want to do going forward or in the future. I take it as it comes. Professionally, I look at opportunities that work for me

Kareena Kapoor On Endorsing Fairness Creams, Standing Up To Trolls, And Raising Taimur

The actress opens up like never before.

AFP/GETTY IMAGES

Kareena Kapoor is looking ethereal.

When she's sitting across the table, talking animatedly to reporters, it's hard to look away from her.

There's something extremely endearing about the way she interacts " it's like she's always very aware of the star that she is, aware of the impact her persona has on people. And she uses it to her benefit.

She's just been announced as the 'Feel Alive' ambassador of Sony BBC Earth, a channel that employs humans to meticulously document the lives of other inhabitants of the planet, often to spectacular results.

At first, I didn't see the connect between wildlife and adventure and Kareena Kapoor but minutes into our conversation, it dawned on me that I was being a (little) presumptuous.

I don't quite see how you fit into the Sony BBC Earth profile considering the perception that Kareena Kapoor carries is that of a glamorous diva. While you can be both, a diva and a wildlife lover, it's just that the other side, if it exists, hasn't been exposed.

I agree. My perception is more about the vanity but that's also a shortcoming of being a Bollywood star. People often tend to bracket you in a certain mould and it's hard to break away from that. It gets all the more pronounced when you aren't social media savvy " it's not like you see me sharing pictures/articles of a certain subject which would make you aware of my tastes. So associations like these bust that assumption. I have always been a lover of nature, wildlife, and natural history, and I am glad it is now coming across.

Do you see your natural aversion for Twitter/Instagram/Facebook as a good thing " since it automatically filters out a lot of negativity " or somewhere there is a fear of missing out on what's trending?

I am an old-world star.

I believe in keeping the mystery of an artist alive. If I am doling out opinions on Twitter and curating a carefully selected album on Instagram, it tells you a lot about my personal taste. In fact, more than a lot. I don't want that. I want people to remain interested in me by curiously thinking about what my life actually entails.

Wouldn't it be too saturating if I popped up on your feed ever so often? I can tell you that you wouldn't be half as interested in this interview as you are now if I were a social media junkie.

HINDUSTAN TIMES VIA GETTY IMAGES

But do you keep abreast with the discussion that's going on online?

Of course. The idea is to be aware without participating in the outrage. If somebody wants my opinion on something, they'll ask me for it. Half the time, people are just wishing each other on Twitter. I'm not like that, please! If I want to wish someone, I'll pick up the phone and call them and have a longer conversation than 140-characters.

When you get into a contract with a brand, what is it driven by? Is it necessary for the brand to appeal to you personally or you also do it for, say, the money?

I think a lot of brands come to me because I have a very strong personality. So I don't think I'll misuse it. If I'm not comfortable with something, I won't do it. It could even be a film. Unless it suits me and my timeline, I won't do it.

But for the longest time, you endorsed Boro Plus fairness cream. In a country where people are largely dark-skinned, don't you think it sends out a wrong idea of beauty?

I don't do it anymore.

But at the same time, I don't want to sound pretentious and come across as holier-than-thou by saying I haven't or I shouldn't do it or that it's wrong. It's more complex than that. These are products that are available in the market. It's not like I am selling cigarettes or alcohol (which have proven health hazards) or meat. These are three things I said I'll never do. And I haven't. But if there's a product like a fairness cream which is available in the market and if there's a brand that thinks I'll be right for it, then why not? And the market for that is huge " a lot of people are using it.

HINDUSTAN TIMES VIA GETTY IMAGES

Most certainly they are. But when a top star endorses that product, it gives legitimacy to the thought that being fair is the only way to look beautiful. That's a dangerous message.

I don't agree. Ultimately, the consumer makes a decision and it's an informed decision that they make. Both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan endorse undergarment but you may not buy it because either of them is endorsing it. You may just go to a Mark and Spencer's. Which is fine, as you made a choice.

That absolves stars of all moral responsibility.

In any case, I wanted to ask you about the severe backlash that followed when you named your baby boy, Taimur. What was your mental space like at that point? Did you ever find yourself wishing that you weren't a star as the vitriol came your way only because of Saif and your collective stardom?

Never. We are stars and we are dealing with it and we wouldn't want it any other way. But the point is this shouldn't happen in the first place. As public figures, every detail of our life is up for discussion and we were prepared for that to happen with Taimur.

What shocked me was how quickly every person online turned into a history student, especially the trolls, who are the most clueless of the lot. Who made you the guardian of history, overnight? I have a message: Dear troll, you were wrong, as you so often are. His name is Taimur, which means Iron and I can assure you that he'll live up to the meaning of his name. You confused him with Timur.

In any case, we took it with a pinch of salt and both of us were least affected by it. We're very proud of his name and there's absolutely no question of changing it. There never was.

You really think we would give into this kind of silly pressure? Sorry, internet.

SAIF ALI KHAN

What about Taimur's picture that was circulated widely? I believe it was taken from Saif's WhatsApp DP? Did that feel like a violation of privacy?

No, ya.

When he was putting it up, I told him. Look, Saif, this is going to go viral. And Saif was like, "He's so gorgeous, I don't care. Let him go viral."

And that was that. What's the harm in it? Everybody loved him and had such good things to say. We got a lot of good wishes too. It's alright. It's cool. We're all good.

After a brief sabbatical and playing full-time mommy to her newborn, Kareena Kapoor Khan is looking forward to being on the sets again.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

She may have been away from the arclights for a while now, but Kareena Kapoor Khan seems to have reclaimed the reins at work. At Sony BBC's Earth event where she was present as the Feel Alive' ambasador, the actor spoke to us about her second innings in showbiz, her lifestyle choices and how her actions are only ruled by her gut. Edited excerpts from the interview:

How are you enjoying motherhood?
It's been just two months, so it's a little too early to talk about motherhood as such. But I think this is going to be the most beautiful phase of my life yet. I am looking forward to spending an entire lifetime getting to know my baby Taimur. Having said that, I am a free spirited girl and will always continue to be one. Motherhood won't change that about me.

Now that you're going to get to up work in full swing, are you doing anything to lose the baby weight?
Not really. I am just doing the things that I did anyway. I have been a generally fit girl, doing yoga and stuff. As an artiste, I have always taken time to work out and be fit, so I'll continue to do that.

Most female actors are scared to get married at the peak of their career. You not only became a wife, but also a mother at the most crucial juncture of your career. How do you look back at the choices you made?
There is no right time as such " either to get married or to have babies. People told me not to get married because that would affect my work. But I have always followed my heart. Three of the most special films that I have worked on, came my way after I got married " be it Bhajrangi Bhaijaan, Ki & Ka or Udta Punjab. I would suggest that everyone should listen to their heart as opposed to listening to too many people. There is a time and place for everything " just follow your heart with all your conviction.

Why don't you choose to be active on any social media platform when most of your contemporaries are?
It's not that I shy away from it due to the trolling " I don't. Social media is all about self-publicity. It's about making oneself look good by posting pictures or making oneself seem intelligent by giving an opinion on something. It doesn't bode too well with me. I am a private person, and I prefer personal interactions much more than public ones. It's more important for me to connect with a person face-to-face than put up pictures with someone.

You will be starting the shoot of Veere Di Wedding very soon. How excited are you about that?
I am very excited. Sonam and Rhea (Kapoor) are very good friends of mine we are trying to take the movie as special as we can. It is about four women and it's the perfect time, I think, for a film like this to be released. It has no male lead actors.

It's also a film with star kids, so to say. Do you think it's easy for star kids to make a mark in the industry?
I think we use the term star kids very losely. There are a lot of star kids' who've not made a mark in the industry. At the end of the day, you need talent to survive in the industry. I think it's unfair to attribute someone's success to the fact that one's a star kid. I don't think that's true at all.

What does stardom mean to you?
It's not a term I care much for. I don't look at myself as a star. I look at myself as an actor doing my job. I love my career and I am passionate about it. I don't take stardom too seriously.

Here we go again.
The reason that journalists keep asking questions about Taimur's name is that Saif and Kareena keep going on and on about it when asked. If they really wanted the controversy to die down, they would simply say that they've said what they wanted to and it was a personal choice.

Saif was using this controversy earlier to promote Rangoon, and it looks like Kareena will keep talking about it till Veera Di Wedding releases.

I seriously don't understand the baby picture. The kid had black hair in the hospital room. Why does he have blonde hair now?

That's not even possible.

Why would they edit it and give him blonde hair? I highly doubt his real eyes are blue either. This is just so weird. 😕

Kareena has green eyes, karisma has blue eyes, their father and grandfather had light eyes. It is the light the way they took the picture his hair looks blonde, but kids do Have changes in hair and eye color after birth.

Actually I think his hair may have been a shade of dark brown in the hospital pic. Also, I think Kareena herself has dark brown hair.

It's ONE question out of an entire interview. During the launch conference the media asked her about the name and she ignored his question.

Saif spoke about it only when he had interviews for rangoon. Both kareena and Saif didn't give interviews during the controversy or directly address it. Actors have interviews during launches and films. It's not to garner publicity. If so, why didn't they give interviews before rangoon or channel launch?
